Hi Kriesi Experts
I am longterm usually happy Enfold customer and convinced my customers to use Enfold, too. I had to migrate my own homepage from one hoster to a new one. I could import the pages, portfolio items and more via WordPress import but failed to import the Enfold design settings getting that I exported on the old instance. I am getting:
couldnt’t import the config because the server didnt respond
I checked the server logs and did not find any php errors like you described in the FAQ.
I am getting only Enfold based import errors on the new WordPress instance (fontello as well). The import of the demo files worked.
thanks in advance for your support

Thank you for the inquiry.
Have you tried exporting the theme options from the Enfold > Import/Export panel? Please check the documentation below for more info.

You can also use a plugin such as Duplicator or WP Migrate DB to create a copy of the site.
Best regards,

perhaps I expressed it worngly:
a) I did an export via Enfold > Import/Export panel of the site on old hoster within Enfold and an export of WP data (posts, pages etc.)
b) i imported the WP data into the WP installation at the new hoster => worked fine
c) I freshly downloaded Enfold Theme and installed it successfully
d) I successfully could import the Demo File(s)
e) I failed to import the Enfold export via export via Enfold > Import/Export panel from step a) with the error message “couldnt’t import the config because the server didnt respond in Enfold importer”Why does this single step fail? I tried with the fontello font zip, too. That fails as well

June 13, 2025 at 2:27 pm #1485430Please note: when I now use Enfold > Import/Export panel and do a fresh export of the site, this export cannot be imported with the same error message. So there is something blocking the import function.

June 14, 2025 at 8:37 pm #1485460Hi,
We are not able to login to your site as we don’t have the password, you need to post the password in the Private Content area. We don’t have access to the email address that you used.
I believe that you see this error because your webhost doesn’t have the PHP ZipArchive Extension enabled, so WordPress can extract the zip file, please check with your webhost that this is enabled.Best regards,

Thank you for the info.
We’ll also need access to the exported theme options so we can test it on our end. Please upload them to Dropbox or any file sharing platform. Do you have a site backup or restore point?
Best regards,

Thank you for the info.
We uploaded the exported theme options to your installation and got a 403 or forbidden error. The same theme options file works fine on our own installation, so it’s definitely an issue with the server configuration. We could try uploading the theme options directly in your database, but we’ll need access to it.
Best regards,
