Hi Kriesi Support Team,
In advance of launching a new website, I changed the Privacy option in WordPress General Settings from Private to Public, and checked to “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”. Once I made that change, some of the Enfold Child Theme Options are no longer applied to the public site. For example, the footer, socket and menu colors no longer follow the Theme Options that are set. Other content formatting breaks as well, for example color section background images are rendered as a small image in the corner of the color section, rather than stretching to fit the section.
This is a repeatable problem. If I set the site settings back to Private, clear my cache and save the Child Theme Options, all of the content renders correctly. If I change settings back to Public, the formatting breaks again.
I’ve upgraded the Enfold theme to 4.8.8, but this did not correct the issue. Whether or not I check the “hide from search engine” box doesn’t impact the behavior. The behavior is consistent in both Safari and Firefox.
Unfortunately I’m unable to launch the site due to this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the inquiry.
We did not see any layout issues when we checked the site. Would you mind providing screenshots of the issue (use imgur or dropbox0? Or post the login details in the private field so that we can toggle the site settings. You may have to temporarily disable the Performance > File Compression settings while we are working on the issue.
Best regards,

I believe I may have just figured this out. It looks like the fix was to disable the CSS and JS file merging and compression options in Theme Options > Performance. Once I disabled those it looks like the formatting is fixed.
Disabling these options is recommended in your Child Theme documentation: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/child-theme/#toggle-id-4
However I confused those settings with the WordPress dashboard settings in Settings > Performance > Performance & speed.
I’m hosting on wordpress.com, and presumably their server does not play well with the merging and compression feature. Oddly everything worked ok in Private mode, but only broke when I changed the website to Public.
Hopefully keeping this thread in your Support archive will help others who run into this in the future. Could you please keep this Support thread open for another day or two so I can troubleshoot further to be sure this is fixed?
Thanks very much for the quick response,
Dimitri Garder
December 15, 2021 at 7:52 am #1332882Hi,
Thank you for that info.
The default file compression from the theme might had been conflicting with the default server optimization (Settings > Performance > Performance & Speed), which probably have its own compression settings or resource optimization feature. Please keep the other option (Enfold > Performance > File Compression) disabled for now. You can also use plugins like Autoptimize or BWP Minify as an alternative.
We will keep the thread open.
Best regards,
Ismael -
