    Hi there,
    when migrating to the new PHP version 7.4, Enfold displays error messages. So I have to buy the theme again and upload it, right?

    But I’m worried that data (e.g. images) and, above all, all of the original settings will then be lost; So the theme settings and the individual page settings that were made with the Layout Builder.

    If I upload the newly purchased Enfold theme via FTP and delete the old one via FTP, will the settings be retained? Does this approach work as described or not?

    bei der Umstellung auf die neue PHP Version 7.4 zeigt Enfold Fehlermeldungen an. Ich muss das Theme daher neu kaufen und hochladen, richtig?

    Ich mache mir aber Sorgen, dass dann Daten (z.B. Bilder) und vor allem die ganzen ursprünglichen Einstellungen verloren gehen; also die Theme-Einstellungen und die individuellen seiteneinstellungen, die mit dem Layout Builder gemacht wurden.

    Wenn ich das neu gekaufte Enfold Theme über FTP hochlade und das alte über FTP rauslösche, bleiben dann die Einstellungen erhalten? Funktioniert diese Vorgehensweise so wie beschrieben oder nicht?

    Hey jetztonline,

    You should not have to buy a new theme license if you already own one. If you need further help, then please send us a temporary WordPress admin login and login URL so that we can have a closer look. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.

    Thanks for the update, I can’t see any login details in this thread though. Could you please try sending them again? Remember to write something in the public box as well when you send the details. You can include FTP details as well, in case we should need them.

    Hi,

    Thanks for that. I see that you are running an older version of the theme, does this problem happen when you activate PHP 7.4 with the version you are running now? If so, then please try updating to the latest version of the theme (4.8.8.1) first: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update.

    I see that you haven’t added a token under Enfold->Theme Update. Please follow this in order to register your theme license: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Hi,

    Thank you for your feedback signal.

    I have added a token, updates are not displayed about this.

    – I am now buying the latest version of Enfold (4.8.8.1)

    – I upload the theme and the child theme via FTP

    – I go to WordPress and activate the child theme

    – My previous design with the layout images is not lost in this way?

    – Or do I have to download a folder with design settings from the old theme and upload it to the new theme?

    Hi,
    Thank you for the login & FTP access, so as I understand you want to update your theme from v4.6.3.1 and add a child theme, so via FTP I uploaded the latest version of the child theme that is included with v4.8.8 then I activated it via WordPress ▸ Design ▸ Themes then I imported your parent theme settings to the child theme with the theme option: Enfold Theme Options ▸ Import/Export ▸ Import Settings from your Parent Theme

    Now to update your parent theme I renamed your current theme folder to “enfold-old” via ftp then upload the new “enfold” folder and checked that your site is working correctly, and once you check we can delete the “enfold-old” folder via ftp, (not the WP theme page)
    *A note to readers, Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.

    I would have preferred to update your parent theme using this method, but since you are using PHP v7.3.31 I got an error and had to do it the above way. For readers please use this method: Upload the latest version as a zip file to your WordPress ▸ Appearance ▸ Themes ▸ Add Themes ▸ Add New

    after you choose the zip file and click install, you will see a This theme is already installed message because you are updating, you can continue

    then you will see the Theme updated successfully message.

    Anyways now your site is updated with a child theme, please clear your browser cache and check.
    The old theme is still in the “enfold-old” folder, once you have checked and are happy we can delete it via FTP, (not the WP theme page).

    the PHP conversion to 7.4 worked and the website runs without error messages.
