    Hi,

I’ve been notified by my webhost that the use of my MySQL database is reaching its limit (100MB). But they can’t tell me what’s the source of this spike.
The warning came after my recent theme update.
Can you check whether this is theme-related (see login details below)?
How do I know which elements (if any) I can remove from the database?

I can use 5 databases of 100MB, so I can make a new one. But can my Enfold website run on several databases (if yes, what do I need to do to enable this)?

    Thanks,

    Hey Poirot,

Thanks for the login details, you forgot to include a URL to your site though. Please include that with your next reply, so that we can have a closer look at your site.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

When logging in, there is a security question asking for the name of your first pet. I was tempted to input the name of my first pet, but I am quite sure that it is asking for yours. Please include it in the private field.

Regarding the database issue, it might be due to the Performance > File Compression settings as discussed in the following threads.

    // https://kriesi.at/support/topic/wp_options-table-is-too-large-40-gb
    // https://kriesi.at/support/topic/dynamic_avia-swedish-help/

You might have to disable the Enfold > Performance > File Compression settings and use other compression plugins such as Autoptimize or BWP Minify.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi Ismael,

I followed your suggestion but no impact on database use, which has further increased.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to fix this.

    Thank you,

    Regards,

    Ismael,

My website is no longer displaying correctly.
File merging/compression returns to default “enable” and I couldn’t activate the plugin. (I clicked activate, but it stays off)
    Please help,

    Hi,

File merging/compression returns to default “enable” and I couldn’t activate the plugin.

Sorry for the delay. We tried to login to the site using the account above and the security answer, but when logging in, it just redirects back to the same page without giving any errors or warnings. Are you sure that the info is correct? Please post the FTP details in the private field so that we could access the server and edit the files when necessary.

Which plugin are you referring to? The theme’s merging/compression settings are located in the Enfold > Performance panel. It is not a plugin. If you are using a different minification/compression plugin, please keep it disabled temporarily.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi Ismael,

Please try accessing the website again.
My webhost had blocked access due to increased database use.
Access has been restored for a few days to find the problem.

The plugin I mentioned was autoptimize, but i have deleted it again since it didn’t solve the problem.

If you still need ftp data let me know.

    Thank you,

    Hi,

Could you please have a look at the website and see what’s causing the higher database use?

    Regards,

    Hi,

We are now able to access the site but the account above have no administrator rights, so we cannot really access anything. We cannot even see the front end because it is on maintenance mode.

Do your hosting provider have additional info about what is causing the database spike? They should be able to monitor it on their end. Temporarily, you should disable the Performance > File Compression settings because this function creates copies of the stylesheets and scripts in the database. After disabling the file compression, install a database optimization plugin and clean the database of any transients.

    Best regards,
    Ismael
