Hello,
We’re on an older version of Enfold (4.0.2) and we don’t have access to the API key, username or the token. We can’t even log into the forum to ask for support because we don’t have the Item Purchase Code to register for the forum. The site was created late 2016 and our company used a freelancer from Upwork who we aren’t able to contact. What steps can we take to access and obtain the API key and username to update the theme?
August 14, 2020 at 1:53 pm #1237811Hey John Manners,
You will need to purchase the new license under your ThemeForest account. Here is where you can do it:
https://themeforest.net/item/enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme/4519990This way you’ll have the purchase code and be able to register at the forum, get the new version of the theme, and get support.
If you need further assistance please let us know.
Best regards,
VictoriaAugust 14, 2020 at 9:31 pm #1237942John MannersGuestOnce we purchase the license, can we install from update with the Themeforest API key and Themeforest username?

Yes, that’s right. But you will also need to generate a token for the theme.
Here are the docs for you:

Thanks for the update and sorry for the problem. I’ve set your password manually for you, please see private. Please try to use that to see if you can login.
As for the update; the update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
If you need help with updating then please provide us with WordPress and FTP login details in private, and verify that you have backups of the site.
Best regards,

Thanks for the update. I’m not sure why it would show you an update on the backend, since the Envato platform is new and shouldn’t work with the version you are running. Could you share login details in private so that we can have a closer look maybe? If you want to update anyway then please follow my instructions above, as that process does work.
As for your CSS and settings; I would advise that you backup the theme settings and CSS locally, just in case something should go wrong.
Best regards,

Thanks for that, I do see the update as well which is a bit surprising. We can try to update the regular way for you, but then we would need FTP login details as well since we would have to upload it manually in case something should go wrong with the regular update. Please share FTP details in private as well if you want us to do the update for you.
You have CSS under Enfold->General Styling as well, and the theme settings can be exported under Enfold->Import/Export. Your settings and CSS should still be there after the update, but please backup everything as safety precaution.
Best regards,

Great, I’m glad that you got the update working.
About your new problem; your site seems to be a bit slow in general unfortunately. Please try to install these plugin to see what is consuming the most resources on your site:
