Hi,
I have just been doing some updates on a webpage and before I finished the Avia Layout Builder stopped loading.
I am using the Classic Editor plugin, PHP version: 7.2.31, Enfold 4.7.6.2 and WordPress just made an automatic update to WordPress 5.5.
The website works from the frontend and I have spoken with the web host and the servers are working fine.
I will be thankful if you have any suggestions. Many thanks
NickAugust 12, 2020 at 12:03 pm #1236942Exactly the same issue than Nick here. Any help would be much appreciated as I can’t make any change to my website right now!
ThxAugust 12, 2020 at 12:38 pm #1236953Have you both updated the Classic Editor plugin to version 1.6?
August 12, 2020 at 12:58 pm #1236958hi Crtdude, I don’t get your point, which classic editor plugin, it comes by defaut with WP,no? The only pain is the AVia Layout Builder not responding after WP 5.5 update,no?
I actually just downgraded to WP 5.4.2 and it works fine but would like to know when we can safely upgrade to WP 5.5August 12, 2020 at 2:26 pm #1236987I was simply referring to this plugin:
I have used this in conjunction with Enfold even though there is a setting for using the classic or block editor in Enfold’s settings. However, this plugin’s version 1.5 was problematic with WP 5.5 – version 1.6 seemed to rectify the issue for now.
August 12, 2020 at 4:53 pm #1237066Understood crtdude!
Just out of curiosity, is there any reason why you are using this plugin instead of the basic switch option between classic & avia builder on enfold?
I must admit to have a hard with the avia layout builder and I am currently considering moving my main site to a different theme to go elementor or similar which seems a much safer bet.August 12, 2020 at 5:18 pm #1237077Hi
Yes, I am running Classic Editor plugin version 1.6 – please see my first communication where I specify this and other software info’s.
If downgrading to WP version 5.4.2 works (as Regispt has found) this confuses me as I have other websites using Enfold that have auto-upgraded to WP version 5 and they are working.
Thanks
NickAugust 13, 2020 at 3:56 am #1237218Hi Nick,
You don’t need the Classic Editor plugin, so please deactivate that to see if it makes any difference. If not then please send us a temporary WordPress admin login and login URL so that we can have a closer look. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply. site.

NickAugust 13, 2020 at 9:57 am #1237317Hi Rikard,
I don’t get your point on opening a new thread….as it was the same topic but will consider doing so in the future!
If you are somehow working for or related to Kriesi, I would much appreciate if you could suggest them reconsidering Avia Layout Builder on Enfold, by far the worst buidler I have ever used and giving me massive headaches for SEO
ThxAugust 14, 2020 at 6:29 am #1237683Hi Nick,
Thanks for that. I saw that you were getting error messages from this plugin: Timetable Responsive Schedule For WordPress. I tried deactivating that and the Layout Builder started loading after that. Maybe you could try looking for an alternative to that plugin, or reach out to the plugin developers for further help?
Best regards,
RikardAugust 14, 2020 at 6:35 am #1237684Hi regispt,
I’m working for kriesi.at yes. We try to keep threads separate to a specific customer and problem, as it’s much easier to keep track of the communication if that is the case. Your problems is likely not the same as the author of this thread, since the problem in his case was a plugin conflict.
If you don’t like the layout builder in Enfold then I would suggest that you try a different theme, as that layout builder is the only one we have at this point. Just out of curiosity though; what headaches is the builder causing you in regards to SEO? If you could then please continue this conversation in a new thread. It would be appreciated by the support team.
Best regards,
RikardAugust 14, 2020 at 10:21 am #1237726Hi Rikard,
Thank you for helping to resolve this issue, it is great to have things back up and running.
I have been working with Enfold for since about 2012 and find the Avia Layout Builder to be the best and most logical in comparison to all other options I have tried. Thank you to you and you team!Best regards
NickAugust 15, 2020 at 9:41 pm #1238050Same here, my friends.
I just upgraded to WordPress 5.5 and now the Avia Layout Builder is not available.
I need that presently because I don’t have time in front of deadlines to establish a new workflow.
What do you recommend — what is the process of going back to a compatible version of WordPress?
Thank you and sorry for the newbie question,
RichardAugust 15, 2020 at 9:54 pm #1238054Richard here again — well, it looks like the Avia Layout Editor is there, but you have to scroll down past to the bottom to see, and there it is, repeating everything but in the Avia way, and it looks right at first, but if you try to edit anything, all of the fields are blank (the content is not in any of the text elements, but it is up in the block and or classic editor format, above.
What say yee?
Thank you for your help and consideration,
RichardAugust 16, 2020 at 6:15 am #1238088Hi Nick,
Great, I’m glad that we could help you out and thanks for the kind feedback. Please let us know if you should need any further help on the topic.

RikardAugust 16, 2020 at 6:16 am #1238089Hi Richard,
Sorry for the problem. I see that you are running an old version of the theme, could you try to update to the latest version (4.7.6.3) to see if that helps please? The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 3, 2020 at 1:09 am #1242961Thank you Rikard — I finally have the time to do this, and I am following your instructions to “update manually via FTP” [https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update], so I downloaded the Enfold Theme ZIP, unzipped it, and I have the Enford Folder …
But when I go to the WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, per the instructions, there is no “Add New”, so I can’t upload the freshly downloaded theme.
Please advise.
Thanks you,

September 9, 2020 at 4:37 am #1244533Hi Richard,
Thanks for that. I can’t see the button to upload either, I have no idea why it’s not there unfortunately. We can upload the theme manually for you though, if you want us to do that then please share FTP login details in private as well.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 14, 2020 at 3:14 am #1245584Rikard, thank you for all of your help.
I am able to download Enfold from themeforest (https://themeforest.net/downloads); so I downloaded the theme using the link “Installable Word Press File Only”; it came Zipped and unzipped it is one folder only, titled Enfold, and all of the files are dated created between May and August of 2020.
Is this the equivalent of the “Update” file? — Can I have my team FTP upload it in to WordPress for me? Or is there a difference between putting in a whole new theme folder and the so-called “Upgrade” process?
If I need a different download to do it this way, is it possible for you to send me a link for the preferred current upgrade version of Enfold, so I can download it to my desk-top here; then, again, my team here can talk me through the FTP process.
This would satisfy some members of my team advising against letting anyone in by sharing FTP login details.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Richard
September 15, 2020 at 5:16 am #1245912Hi Richard,
The files you are referring to should work. The theme files at Themeforest are the same as the one we would upload for you, so if you can have someone help you with uploading them manually then it will likely work. If you should still need help from us then please include FTP login details in private with your next reply.
Best regards,
Rikard -
