Hello
I have been facing a weird problem. Every 23rd of the month, exactly the same date since 4 months, my site server goes down
And when i contact the support at DreamPress, they saidI’m seeing wp-options table quite large due to
aviaAsset_avia-head-scriptsCan you help me find out what is causing this issue ?
Because its been 3 month i have been realizing this crash on every 23r d of the month, i decided to contact support on the 22nd and do a precautions act by clearing transients and restarting server and optimizing database, which results in a good memory use and good headroom. So just yesterday (22nd of July) we did that .. but today (23rd July) the site crashed as usual !

July 23, 2020 at 4:55 pm #1232660Hi,
Please update Enfold to the latest version 4.7.6 and refer to this post – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/optimization/#troubleshoot

YigitJuly 23, 2020 at 11:23 pm #1232820Hello @Yigit
I have followed instructions, but can you please explain or help me understand thisDisable file merging, select “Delete old CSS and JS files” – wait for some time, clear server cache and then reactivate your settings.
is it a must to do the above ?
and What is meant by “then reactivate your settings” which settings ?Thanks again
July 24, 2020 at 2:25 am #1232847Hello again
After i updated Enfold, i realized that there is a problem with the Tab Section elements on the site .. whenever i go to another tab, the whole tab bar disappears
example:even here, when you go to another tab, there is something weird on the site that happens, it shows the tab content but it kind of scrolls the page somehow !
https://per-vurt.com/product/native-instruments-traktor-kontrol-s4 (down where you have “features”, “description” “specifications”…)Can you please advise and help fix it ! ?
July 28, 2020 at 3:40 am #1233632Hi,
Thank you for the update.
Did you modify the tab_section.php or the tab_sub_section.php file in the child theme? The tab section title or navigation disappears because it slides along with the tab section content when it’s not supposed to.
Best regards,
IsmaelJuly 28, 2020 at 10:29 am #1233719Hello @ismael
No i have not modified those files at all !I have also asked a question on
#1232820 concerning“and What is meant by “then reactivate your settings” which settings ?”
hope you can answer it
thanks
August 2, 2020 at 6:34 pm #1234658Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, in the link above the context for “then reactivate your settings” is that you have“Disable adding unique timestamps” in “Unique timestamp of merged files” to suppress adding the timestamp.
and after waiting sometime you can “then reactivate your settings” meaning that you can enable adding unique timestamps.
In your case you were following the steps to clear your file merging and would enable file merging again once your server cache is cleared, typically this can take “sometime”.
I recommend not using any file merging, cache, minifying, server caching, & etc until your site is completely done because it can mask or create issues while creating your site.
I hope I explained this well.Best regards,
MikeAugust 12, 2020 at 3:00 pm #1237004Hello @mike
Sorry for the late reply …
Well, currently my 3 preferences i talked about are;CSS file merging and compression
Disable – no CSS file merging and compression
Javascript file merging and compression
Disable – no Javascript file merging and compressionUnique timestamp of merged files and WP object cache bug
Disable adding unique timestamps onlyDo you think if i keep them like this i would lose anything? Is it bad to keep them like this ? what is the disadvantages if any?
Thank you
August 14, 2020 at 4:36 am #1237652Hi,
Thank you for te update.
Based on the settings above, all css and js files will load independently and not as a single compressed or minified file unless a third party compression plugin such as Autoptimize or a cache plugin with the same compression feature like WP Rocket is installed. The third option (Unique timestamp) doesn’t really matter because the first two compression settings are already disabled.
You can keep those settings disabled but make sure to install another compression or minification plugin to combine the resource files and improve the loading speed of the site.
Best regards,
IsmaelAugust 14, 2020 at 12:01 pm #1237763Hello @ismael
Thank you for the detailed answer i really appreciate
.Exactly Every 23rd of the month, my site crashes
My initial problem was according to the Dreamhost Support :I’m seeing wp-options table quite large due to
aviaAsset_avia-head-scriptsand @yigit sent me this link to follow the instructions: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/optimization/#troubleshoot
i did what is written there and i have these settings applied nowCSS file merging and compression
Disable – no CSS file merging and compression
Javascript file merging and compression
Disable – no Javascript file merging and compressionUnique timestamp of merged files and WP object cache bug
Disable adding unique timestamps onlymy question is :
by keeping the above settings disabled, do you think that my problem would be solved and i wont be ” seeing wp-options table quite large due to aviaAsset_avia-head-scripts” that is resulting in a site crash ?Thank you
ive attached the log by the support team at Dreamhost in privateAugust 16, 2020 at 8:06 pm #1238256Hi,
I would say that this should resolve the issue because the “aviaAsset_avia-head-scripts” row in the database is created when the file merging and compression is enabled, and it is removed when file merging and compression is disabled.
But in your Private Content area above the code that you pasted is much more than the one line that should be there, like this:
so I wonder if your field is being appended and not cleared. Can you search for “aviaAsset_avia-head-scripts” in your “phpMyAdmin” database tool while your file merging and compression is disabled and again when it is enabled to see if it is removed and then shows with just one line when it is enabled.Best regards,
MikeAugust 23, 2020 at 7:32 pm #1240193Hello Mike
I will look into that with the Dreamhost support and get back to you as i am not too technical and i do not know where to access “phpMyAdmin” databaseThank you !
On another note, if i have to keep these settings, then i will have a slower site ! so i am stuck between having a site crash from time to time, and have a slow website all the time ! if you have any advise please share it with me :)August 23, 2020 at 11:52 pm #1240214Hi,
This is a strange issue since your site is crashing the same day each month, but I think we may be on the right track with checking if the field is cleared when the file merging option is disabled, we will see what your host finds. For other ideas, do you know if your host checked your server’s “cron jobs” for something that might also be running every month?
If your site is a Multisite, do you have anything running each month like a backup or a cleanup on a different site?Best regards,
MikeAugust 24, 2020 at 5:41 pm #1240439Hello Mike
I am just waiting for the right time to contact them as we are located in different areas and the time difference is huge !
WIll let you know about all and thanks for following up / i have a single site
i have many cron jobs but they are minor ones and they don’t happen every 23 of the monthi realized that i did not have a site crash (YET) i am still monitoring .. let’s keep this thread open till i do what you requested (soon)

Reply to
#1237652If i am already on Cloudflare, should i install both WP Rocket and Autoptimize ? knowing that i had to disable
CSS file merging and compression
and
Javascript file merging and compression
Unique timestamp of merged files and WP object cache bugPlease let me know what you can advise as i have been researching and my head is almost blown up since many people are saying different things !
Thank you
November 17, 2020 at 11:58 pm #1261158@mike
I have seen your reply on https://kriesi.at/support/topic/dynamic_avia-making-way-too-many-calls/#post-1183708 a solution .. is this going to help me ?My problem (site crash caused by wp-options table becoming quite large due to aviaAsset_avia-head-scripts) was solved when i disabled
CSS file merging and compression
and
Javascript file merging and compression
and
Unique timestamp of merged files and WP object cache bugbut the website became slow and the Gmetrix grading went down
so what could be a good solution to avoid having the site crash and at the same time without affecting the performance of it !!!!!????
Thanks for the help
November 18, 2020 at 1:34 pm #1261279Hi,
@Cloudypro, I don’t believe that this solution would help you, as I recall that solution was before the “Fix WP bug, disable unique timestamps” was added to the “Unique timestamp of merged files and WP object cache bug” option.
So I believe using this option takes the place of the filter.Best regards,
MikeNovember 18, 2020 at 6:55 pm #1261349Thank you @Mike
Ok i will choose this solution .. but do you think that this will affect the performance of my site ?
I will also enable the below
CSS file merging and compression
Javascript file merging and compressionOne more question, if i have Cloudflare, do i still need to have Autoptimize or WP Rocket ? or no need for that ?
THanks again
November 19, 2020 at 2:14 pm #1261557Hi,
I understood your previous post to mean that you had the “CSS & JS file merging and compression” disabled, this makes sense if you are using Autoptimize or WP Rocket, because both of these have a merging and compression option and you would only want this to occur once, typically errors I see occur when the theme compresses and Autoptimize or WP Rocket does it again, this double compression should be avoided.
As for using Cloudflare, I found this “article”: Cloudflare: Should You Use It or Not it is by WP Rocket so it does recommend using Cloudflare with WP Rocket, but the explanation is well written.
I believe adding Autoptimize to the mix is touchy because many of the options are available through the theme options or WP Rocket, but I would guess that carefully choosing options from all three would work out.
But with your database table issue, which seems to have been corrected by disabling the merging and compression, I would recommend trying Cloudflare with WP Rocket first without Autoptimize as a start.Best regards,
MikeNovember 19, 2020 at 3:05 pm #1261568Hello @Mike
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer with details .. i appreciate this ..I am not a fan of using plugins, i would like to keep the internal theme options to enable both compression and merging. But is there a solution to enable them without having the options table get very huge ? and therefore resulting in a site crash ?
Thanks again
November 20, 2020 at 3:02 pm #1261791Hi,
Perhaps I didn’t understand correctly, at your last report of the table issue I thought you said that:My problem (site crash caused by wp-options table becoming quite large due to aviaAsset_avia-head-scripts)
was solved when I disabled
CSS file merging and compression
and
Javascript file merging and compression
and
Unique timestamp of merged files and WP object cache bugSo with these disabled, your monthly crash didn’t happen… which is good news since we were not able to reproduce this table crash on the different servers that we tried, I believe that this post was the closest to an explanation… being that the table field is being appended and not cleared on changes.
Unfortunately, this seems to be due to some server setting or error that I do not know about, but I would think that this key point would help your webhost spot the issue?Ok, so now we are at the point that the crash doesn’t occur… but we want to improve your site speed… and you were asking about using Autoptimize, WP Rocket, & Cloudflare to improve your site speed.
So I would think that we would want to keep the settings disabled that solved the table crash, correct?
Perhaps a good test would be to keep the settings disabled and add Cloudflare to the mix, I would recommend making only one change at a time, that is either add Cloudflare or WP Rocket.
I hope this makes senseBest regards,
MikeNovember 20, 2020 at 5:58 pm #1261837@Mike
HelloThanks for replying .. yes you are right with what you said .. but i had Cloudflare form a long time !
If this is a server issue then i guess i am facing a dead end .. because my server host asked me to contact the Kriesi Enfold support :)
dead end.. i am doomed to experience site crash every now and then !
Thanks for trying to help
cheersNovember 22, 2020 at 9:16 pm #1262149Hi,
Sorry for the late reply and that we were not able to solve this, but perhaps a database freelancer would be able to adjust the settings in the table so it won’t grow so large or reset it automatically each month before the crash, I’m not a database expert but I would imagine there are a few options.Best regards,
MikeNovember 23, 2020 at 12:19 pm #1262335Thank you @mike
you have been very helpful and i appreciate your time and effortNo further questions
