Hello,
Cookies for Google Analytics are enabled by default on my website, while they should be disabled by default according to GDPR
Can you please help me solve this?
Thank you!May 4, 2020 at 3:53 am #1209387Hey serenacikis,
First off, could you try updating the theme to the latest version (4.7.4) please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update. We have added a lot of new GDPR features in the versions between the latest one and the one which you are running.

RikardMay 4, 2020 at 4:21 pm #1209593Hello,
thank you for your kind reply.
I am using enfold child. Enfold is inactive on my website, while enfold child is active. I do not see any update available for enfold child.
So shall I update something or do you have any info on how to solve the GDPR issue without updating?
Thank you!
Best regards,
SerenaMay 5, 2020 at 7:19 am #1209819Hi,
Thanks for the update. A child theme is never updated during regular updates, only manual ones. Did you add a token to the backend of the theme so that you will receive update notifications? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

RikardMay 5, 2020 at 9:51 am #1209861Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I added the token.
So what should I do next to solve the GDPR issue? Should I update the parent theme or the child theme? I did many modifications to the child theme, will I lose something?
Thank you!
Best regards,
Serena
May 6, 2020 at 5:14 am #1210217Hi Serena,
Please update the theme through the backend. You child theme won’t be updated, but I would recommend that you keep proper backups of the site in case something should go wrong and you would need to restore the site.

VictoriaOctober 12, 2020 at 7:12 pm #1252323Hello Victoria,
Sorry from the documentation I don’t understand how not to have Cookies for Google Analytics enabled by default on my website :(
Also, I see I can add a privecy policy checkbox on the theme’s contact form, but how can I do the same for terms and conditions?Thank you!
October 16, 2020 at 3:45 am #1253120Hi,
Thank you for the update.
You have to set the Privacy & Cookies > Cookie Handling > Default Cookie Behaviour settings to the first or second option to enable external scripts by default event without user consent.
For the contact form, there is an element or field called Checkbox which can also be used for the terms and conditions.

IsmaelOctober 18, 2020 at 3:49 pm #1253613Hello, I think we are not understanding each other.
your button [av_privacy_google_tracking] is by default GREEN to say that cookies are enabled. By GDPR this button should be with COOKIES DISABLED and the user should press it to enabled. Also, I know that for the contact form, there is an element or field called Checkbox which can also be used for the terms and conditions. But like this I cannot have a link to terms and conditions. I need the words “terms and conditions” in the checkbox to be allowed to be clicked so that the user can go to the terms and conditions page, like it works for privacy.
ThanksOctober 20, 2020 at 8:52 am #1254271Hi,
Thank you for the info.
By GDPR this button should be with COOKIES DISABLED and the user should press it to enabled.
The Privacy & Cookies > Cookie Handling > Default Cookie Behaviour should be set to the third option if you want the externals scripts or features ( Google maps, recaptcha, analytics etc) to be disabled by default, only essential cookies will be enabled.
For the checkbox, you could use html tags in the Form Element Label field to create the link manually.
