A year ago, I tried to upgrade to 4.2.2 and it crashed my site. With your help, I went back to 4.2 and have NOT updated all year, extremely busy. I have upgraded WordPress editions and now, the site is not compatible at all. I cannot make any edits without it messing up all the pages.
1. I have a complete website backup through GoDaddy should I need to go back a day to fix.
2. I use a child theme and the Enfold theme version I am using is 4.2. And it says that all my themes are up to date! with no way of upgrading.
3. My PHP is 7.1
4. WordPress version: 5.3
5. I have updated with the new API token, not key, and have added it to my themes inside WordPress. Got the Okey dokey, sparky everything is fine in both child and main theme.
6. Downloaded theme from Envato.
7. Downloaded the third party plugin and activated it.
8. I’ve been a customer for YEARS …..My message is:
The link you followed has expired.
Please try again.PLEASE HELP?
December 12, 2019 at 8:32 am #1165118Hey saundra,
Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.6.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
If none of that works then please include admin WordPress and FTP login details in private and a verification that you have backups of the site, so that we can update your site for you.
Best regards,
RikardDecember 13, 2019 at 8:20 pm #1165631HI! I read through everything thoroughly and I could not get that plug in to work. At all. I backed up copies of ENFOLD and ENFOLD child on my server. Tried the FTP and it would not work successfully. Please check below for private info for you to go in and try to fix this for me. GoDaddy backs up my website every single day, so when I crashed it this morning, I simply restored it from yesterday and it was fixed.
December 14, 2019 at 8:15 am #1165797Hi,
Thanks for the FTP details, is it the WordPress installation located in the root which you want to update? We also need WordPress login details in order to update your site, please post those as well in private.
Best regards,
RikardDecember 14, 2019 at 5:58 pm #1165910Oops I’m sorry. YES, the WP installation is in the root, scroll down and you’ll see where ENfold is in the themes. BElow is the wordpress login. THANK YOU
December 14, 2019 at 6:03 pm #1165911Also you may see TWO ENFOLD themes inside wordpress. I just noticed that. That is because I was trying to overwrite one of them. And then had to do a hard restore from backup. please get rid of the one that I do not need any more so I don’t see 2 Enfold themes inside wordpress.
