    I’m incharge of a website that already has the Enfold theme installed (v4.0.2). It uses an Enfold child theme and it was probably installed by the previous developer.

    I want to update the theme to the latest version, so I asked my client to purchase the Enfold theme and entered Themeforest legacy API key. However it doesn’t display the latest version as an update.

    Hey jesin,

    It might be that the connection from Envato is being blocked. What happens if you deactivate your security plugins and/or caching plugin for instance?

    Best regards,
    Jordan Shannon

    Hi Jordan,

    Thanks for the quick response.

    There are no security plugins on the site. I’ve disabled these two caching plugins – Autoptimize and WP Fastest Cache and the problem still persists.

    I enabled “Query Monitor” and got the following HTTP API errors (see screenshot shared in private content).

    Sorry for the bump. I made a cURL request to the API URL and got the following

    {
      "error": "This API is being rate limited in preparation for it to be decommissioned. See https://forums.envato.com/t/rate-limiting-on-the-legacy-api/188055 for details.",
      "code": "rate_limit"
    }

    Hi,

    Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.6.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

    You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

    If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

    Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    If I’m updating via FTP can I just rename the original theme directory and place the new one? Do I have to deactivate and activate?

    Will the existing child theme (from v4.0.2) work with the new parent without any issues?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    Yes, you can simply update parent theme. Please see – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/ & http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

    Best regards,

    Hello,

    I updated Enfold to the latest version and the top header went missing. Also there is some additional margin around the input boxes on the home page. How did this happen?

    #1160354

    Hi jesin,

    Inspecting the header it shows that some elements aren’t inside the top header.
    Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    1. Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
    2. Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
    3. Click ” Create New “.
    4. Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
      ( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ).
    5. Click ” Submit “.
    6. You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.

    When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
    If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Thank you very much I’ve added the login details.

    Hey,

    Header issue is related to header.php file in your child theme. Deleting it or applying the changes you applied on it on new header.php file will fix the issue. Have you modified all files included in your child theme?

    Cheers!
