We are having “internal server error” notices come up when checking out with Square Woocommerce plugin on our site. This was working a month or so ago and has recently stopped working. A user can input all payment info but gets the error once submitting. The order appears in the Orders area of Woocommerce, but the payment is not taken to Square, the customer doesn’t receive a confirmation email, nor is the credit card processed. I have disabled plugins with no luck. I changed the theme to Twenty Seventeen and was able to checkout successfully, customer gets email and credit card is charged—so it must be the Enfold theme?

Further weirdness, I tried to update the theme. It said I was using version 4.4.1, but it said no updates available. “No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.4.1)”. I then downloaded the latest version 4.5 and replaced theme files via FTP. It then gave me a notice in the Theme Update area saying there was an update available. I clicked this, it said it the update was successful, but now it shows the same message “No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.4.1)” and the checkout process still doesn’t work.

We are running a child theme of Enfold, on WordPress 5.2.3. Have also tried disconnecting the Square account and reconnecting. Also installed fresh version of both Woocommerce and the Square plugin. Have contacted Square plugin support and they said it’s not them if the checkout works with Twenty Seventeen theme.

Let me know if you need admin info or FTP login. Any help would be a blessing!

    Hey mteverley,

Sorry for the problem. I see that you are running an old version of the theme, could you try to update to the latest version (4.6.3.1) to see if that helps please? The update to 4.6.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.

Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rickard,
I was able to update the theme to 4.6.1 but the problem still exists with the Internal Server Error at checkout. Again, the checkout process works with the Twenty Seventeen theme just fine, so thinking there is a glitch with Enfold. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,

Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    1. Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
    2. Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
    3. Click ” Create New “.
    4. Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ).
    5. Click ” Submit “.
    6. You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.

When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.

    Best regards,
    Basilis

I have been having the same issues on FairwaysMembership.com

Beyond the internal server errors, I receive intermittently, I am also having the connection to Square’s API (I believe through OAuth tokens) dropped. Typically, this just requires me to go to woo>settings>Square>connect to square>save changes.

After speaking with support at WooCommerce, Square, RobotNinja and Kinsta, it does not appear to be a hosting issue. WooCommerce has not pinpointed the issue yet and Square referred me to speak to WooCommerce. I did include an image of what Robot Ninja suggested: RN <a href='https://automattic.pxf.io/y2XdbN/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'/ rel=WooCommerce and Square Tokens" />

Today, I was working on FairwaysMembership.com and decided to navigate over to TheMallardCreek.com to see if there were similar issues. And the connection issue (I believe it’s likely related) presented itself while screen recording. Here’s the screen recording on YouTube

My only decent guess is that it could potentially relate to the file compression settings under Enfold>Performance>File Compression could be causing the token authorization or refreshing to timeout or not complete?

    Hi,

Yes the issue is related to WooCommerce you would need to work this out with them.

@basilis I’m not sure if your comment was directed at me, but if the issue does not exist with other themes (as stated above using Twenty Seventeen) I will have to assume the fault is with Enfold. Both WooCommerce and Square are throwing it back to the theme if transactions work when using another theme.

Was anyone able to login to interrupthunger.org to assist? I can create another temporary user login.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

From the discussion is other what I understood so this does impress me a little bit.
We do not have previous issues with that, but I understand that maybe there is something having issues with the Payment Processor.
To debug this as it is plugin related, we would need more time. It is strange and we have to test it. Can we do this over your web site?

    Best regards,
    Basilis

Yes, please do! I have set up another temp user for you. See link in private content.
