Emma Lassiter
GuestHi,
We previously had this issue:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-destination-folder-already-exists-error-in-wordpress/
We missed a crucial update that interfered with updating further. We were unable to fix this via ftp as suggested because our host would now allow us access and said to resolve the issue with the theme developer.
My colleague who purchased the theme has been unavailable for several months. For this reason I can’t login to your forum for support.
I just logged into our website and was able to update the theme to 3.8, but am still unable to edit pages. The block appears with a spinning circle and the error message “this block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed”.
I am not a developer and have no training in this. I’ve just been trying to help with the website since we are a small non-profit and don’t have someone to do the work, so please be patient with me! What do you suggest I do next?
With thanks,
EmmaSeptember 22, 2019 at 10:07 am #1140608Hey Emma,
Sorry for the late reply and for the problem. The update to 4.6.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,
Rikard -
