Hello. I have recently been hired to make edits to an existing WordPresssite, which has the Enfold theme activated (site: https://feedxl.com/). I now want to contact Enfold tech support about some questions. What is the proper way to do so? The existing site admin has never contacted Enfold support before. But, the site was built by yet another developer, and it is unclear whether that developer ever contacted Enfold support or setup an account.
Thank You,
Carl Gross
July 15, 2019 at 6:13 am #1118683Hey Carl,
You need to register here using the purchase code which came with the theme purchase. If you don’t have the purchase code then you should be able to get it from the person who bought the theme.
Best regards,
RikardJuly 18, 2019 at 4:07 am #1119757Carl GrossGuestHi Rikard,
OK thanks for that. Currently, no one in the organization seems to know who actually made the purchase: our organization or the original site developers. We are currently trying to contact the original developers to see if they know more. But they may be unreachable. In that event, do we have any recourse? For example, would it be somehow possible for you to lookup the name of the actual owner, and or the last four digits of the credit card used to make the purchase? That might be able to at least confirm that a member of *our staff* purchased the theme (as opposed to the original developer), and we could maybe obtain the purchase code in that manner.
In the worst case scenario, we would purchase a new theme license, and use that purchase code. But I hope we can avoid that.
Thanks,
Carl
July 18, 2019 at 2:16 pm #1119924Hi Carl,
Thanks for the update. We can’t search for credit card numbers unfortunately, Envato/Themeforest handles all sales related matters on their platform, and we are only one of many vendors on that platform. The only access we have to their system is really only uploading the theme files and changing the information on our product pages. Maybe you could try reaching out to Envato to see if they can help you out further?

RikardJuly 19, 2019 at 11:11 am #1120138Carl GrossGuestOK thanks. Let’s say I purchase a completely new license. If I did so, would I have to modify anything on my site? For example, has the purchase code been added to the WordPress back-end anywhere?
July 19, 2019 at 1:49 pm #1120186Hi,
You would be able to add you theme license to the site and continue as you were.

Enfold Child–>Theme Update?

July 22, 2019 at 3:39 pm #1120884Hi,
You should login on ThemeForest using the account you used to purchase Enfold and find your purchase code to register to our forum. API key and username is needed to receive auto updates – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

Yes, it is, please have a look at our docs here:

VictoriaJuly 23, 2019 at 6:00 am #1121093Carl GrossGuestOK thanks for that. Our live site is at https://feedxl.com/ But I also maintain a dev site on my local computer, and we are thinking of creating a private remote staging site as well. Would we be able to use the same purchase code for all three installations? To be clear, only the live site would be publicly facing–the other two would be private.
Thanks.
July 23, 2019 at 12:55 pm #1121188Hi Carl,
Yes, you should be able to use the same license for all 3 of your installations.

RikardJuly 24, 2019 at 1:40 pm #1121536Carl GrossGuestHi Rikard,
OK thanks for that. To update you, the original site developers told us that they used their own Enfold purchase code when building the site. So we will have to purchase our own version, which we are doing now.
However, one related issue is that, when the original devs built the site, they did not attach *any* purchase code in the WordPress back-end (i.e. Enfold Child–>Theme Update). So our theme has not had any updates in that time–we are using version 4.0.5 while the latest version is 4.5.7. This is the first I’m learning of this. So the first task after purchasing a valid theme license will be to update the theme to version 4.5.7. I realize I can probably update from 4.0.5 to 4.5.7 with one click. But that may result in some (or many) errors on my site. As an alternative, I was thinking about updating in discrete steps, i.e. update from 4.0.5 to 4.1, then check for, and resolve, any errors that may arise. After, I would then update from version 4.1 to version 4.2, check for, and resolve any errors that may arise. And so forth. Do you think that would be beneficial? Or do you think I should update all the way to v4.5.7 and resolve any/all errors that may arise? If you think updating in discrete steps is beneficial, would that even be possible? I would need theme files for each theme version–correct?
To be clear, the update process would occur on my private dev site first, then repeated on the live site once all errors were resolved.
Thanks.

There is no need to do a gradual update.
You can follow these steps to update the theme:

>> There is no need to do a gradual update.
I realize that it is indeed possible to update directly from v4.0.5 to v4.5.7. But my fear is that, since I will be implementing so many major updates at once, my site may break in many many places. To mitigate that, I thought that updating in stages might be beneficial. What do you think about that ? Do you think that is an unfounded fear?
July 25, 2019 at 10:08 am #1121869Hi Carl,
If you are worried about updates breaking your site then I would recommend that you copy your site to a staging version of the site, and update there first. That is by far the safest way of updating. If you still want to do gradual updates then we can send you the version you want, although I agree with Victoria that it shouldn’t be necessary.

Right O, that is indeed my plan.

OK thanks for that. On my staging site, let me try one giant update, and see if I can easily resolve any issues that arise. If for some reason it proves complex, I may revert that update, and come back to you for those separate versions. Should we keep this ticket open until then? Or close it, and have me open a new ticket if I need the previous theme versions?
July 26, 2019 at 5:56 am #1122083Hi Carl,
Great, we’ll keep this thread open for you. You could also open a new thread if you feel like it.

RikardAugust 5, 2019 at 8:34 am #1124656OK I’m back with an update. I was able to obtain a Themeforest API Key and add it to Dashboard–>Enfold Child–>Theme Update–>Themeforest API key. It was accepted successfully. After, the message on the page continued to read,
>> Theme Updates
>> No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.0.5)
>> Check ManuallyThis is of course not the latest version of the theme. So I clicked ‘Check Manually.’ It then redirected me to the Dashboard–>Updates page, which listed my out of date plugins and themes. But the Enfold theme was not in the list (screenshot). How can I update the theme automatically?
Thanks.
August 5, 2019 at 12:42 pm #1124701Hey,
Please refer to this post – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/updating-to-enfold-4-5-and-validating-personal-token/. Since Envato’s API keys are deprecated, you would only be able to update Enfold manually when using an version older than 4.5.
Regards,
YigitAugust 5, 2019 at 2:28 pm #1124750OK got it. I have now updated the theme manually, from version 4.0.5 to version 4.5.7. At this point, are there any bundled plugins that I need to explicitly update? Or did that theme update also take care of updating any bundled plugins? Or are there no bundled plugins?
August 5, 2019 at 4:21 pm #1124790Hi,
Only bundled plugin in Enfold is LayerSlider and we include its update version in Enfold updates.
If you have not, please generate a Personal Token – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#how-to-generate-a-envato-personal-token and insert it in Enfold theme options to receive auto updates :)
Best regards,
YigitAugust 6, 2019 at 8:26 am #1124991OK understood, thanks for confirming that. I’m still in the process of updating the theme. Let’s keep this ticket open for another week if possible. I’ll update here when complete.
Thanks.
August 6, 2019 at 8:27 am #1124993Actually, one more question. Is Slider Revolution a bundled plugin?
