    Hello,

I followed the directions on the Typography Documentation page to add custom styling to Dropcap Style 1, but it is not working. I’m sure it’s a simple solution but the edits that I’ve tried didn’t work. Can someone please take a look at it for me and let me know what the issue may be? Thank you!

    Hey eskitaco,
Thanks for the link to your site, I took a look at your drop-cap shortcode and found that there was a curly quote in the code instead of a straight quote, I corrected.
I also disabled your css merged in the Enfold Theme Options > Performance > JS & CSS file merging and compression because sometimes it can be difficult to clear, I recommend leaving this off and any site caching until your site is done.
Please clear your browser cache and check.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the assistance! It worked earlier this morning but when I changed the colors, it stopped and reverted back to the default style. I flushed the cache but no luck. I didn’t change anything else, just the colors.

Just an fyi… the curly quote is actually on the Typography Documentation page. I originally didn’t copy the shortcode, I copied the text (see below image) and pasted into my code on the page, and it automatically added the curly quote.

    Hi,
Thanks for pointing this out, we’ll get this corrected.
I found an error in your drop-cap css, the first commented line had a space after the star and before the backslash, so it commented out all of the css until the next commented out line.
I corrected for you, but I see more errors after one of your media queries and I’m not sure where you want your closing bracket.
Please try adding your Quick CSS to WordPress > Customize > Additional CSS to test for errors, the tool will show
    red X for each error.

    Best regards,
    Mike

You’re the man, Mike! Thanks for the tip. Never knew I could do that to check my work.

Ok, so I followed your instructions and copied the code into Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and fixed the errors. I then copied the edited code and pasted back into Theme Options > General Styling > Quick CSS… and now the dropcap code isn’t working again. I apologize for the inconvenience that I’m causing. I’m a n00b and an idiot.

I’m not touching anything you already edited either. WTF?

P.S. What am I doing to make the dropcap css from not working if I didn’t change anything? All I did was update other css code and saved. Hopefully there’s something that you can think of that will help prevent this from happening again. Thank you, Mike.
