    Hi Team,
I’ve been seeing for some time now ‘HTTP ERROR 500’ when accessing my website.
If I refresh the page a few times it will eventually load. Please can you help me troubleshoot?

    Hey HannahWright,

Which version of PHP and the theme are you running? We recommend running PHP 7.1 or higher and the latest version of the theme (4.5.7). If you should need further help then please include admin login details in private so that we can have a closer look.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I am running:
    – PHP 7.3
    – Enfold: 4.4.1
Not quite sure how to update the theme as my wordpress is telling me that I have the most up to date version. Could you kindly advise.

    Hi,

Thanks for the update. The update to 4.5.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.

Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Thanks Rikard,
I’ve installed the latest version now but I’m still getting the error. Now after upgrading to WordPress 5.2 I’m getting
‘This site is experiencing technical issues’. or ‘The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions’

I even get this message when I’m in the admin side of wordpress.
I’ve tried disabling plugins but still there periodically. I’ve created you a temporary login; see private content

    Hi,

Thanks for that, I’m getting a 500 internal server error when trying to login though. Would you be able to reach out to your hosting provider? I think they are in a better position to help you out with this since they have access to the server logs.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

You need to keep refreshing it will work eventually. Please can you try again? In the meantime I’ll contact my hosting provider.

    Regards,

    Hannah

    Hi Hannah,

Thanks for that, I got in eventually but the login redirected me to the first URL in private which is a bit strange. Do you have another WordPress installation inside of the folder which you are using for WordPress? If so then that might be causing problems.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
The temporary password expired. I’ve re-extended it, see private content.
I only have one wordpress folder in my directory.

I have noticed that I have 2 .htacess
one in htdocs the other in the wordpress folder, would that present problems?
    Thanks,
    Hannah

    Hi Hannah,

I’m not sure to be honest with you, but you could try to delete the one which is in the sub folder to see if that changes anything. When logging in I still get redirect to the URL in private, which is telling me something is wrong with your WordPress installation. Exactly what is wrong is more difficult to say though. Why exactly is the site installed in a sub folder?

    Hi Rikard,
Thanks for your patience, I’ve been discussing the issue with my web host. Basically they’ve told me that the enfold theme is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled which is why it keeps exceeding the quota.

I’ve added error logs to private area, issue is generally dynamic-css.php. They’re suggesting I delete and reinstall the theme.
If I do this, how will i be able to retain all of my settings, it’s taking me some time to get this all together.

    Thanks,
    Hannah

    Hi Hannah,

Yes, all your settings should be there if you delete and reinstall the theme. But I would suggest that you export the theme settings and save them locally as well in the theme options under Enfold->Import/Export.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
