how can I update now? and will the update help for spam in our contact form?November 9, 2018 at 6:10 am #1031543Hey inento,
Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.5 has to be done manually unfortunately, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
I’m not sure about your spam problem though, please try updating to see if that helps. If not then we’ll have a closer look at your site.

VictoriaJanuary 4, 2019 at 1:02 pm #1049968Hi Victoria,
Thanks again for the links. We have been struggling with this for a while now.
I’m still wondering why we get spam if we use the Enfold contact form, enabling or disabling CAPTCHA is not helping and we have tried a couple plugins but no success. Other templates from a different provider we use have no issues with the mail form.Are you able to provide more details why this is happening? It seems the mail/contact form of the Enfold them is hacked (correct me if I’m wrong). If this is a matter extending the support license, we are happy to extent this.

January 8, 2019 at 3:21 am #1051139Hi,
The contact form’s security question is quite easy to bypass, so it’s up to you, the site owner, to add more security measures to protect your site from spammers and hackers alike. Adding a reCAPTCHA widget to the contact form should help. You can use this plugin:
// https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library/tree/master/customizations/enfold-recaptcha
You should also install an all-in-one security plugin such as Sucuri or Wordfence to fend off malicious attempts.

IsmaelJanuary 8, 2019 at 8:54 am #1051287Hi Ismael,
We have tried Wordfence and this also did not help, also we have a CAPTCHA activated but will try the one you are suggesting. Could you tell us if there are more people that have these issues with the enfold theme and why this is getting through the current security?
Also i cant seem to download or clone the file, could you tell me how to install this?

January 9, 2019 at 12:59 pm #1051808Hi,
Yes, some users reported the same issue and installing a security plugin usually stops the problem. Let us know if the reCAPTCHA plugin helps.

January 10, 2019 at 11:56 am #1052296Hi,
You need to download the whole snippet library and copy the plugin folder manually.
// https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library
Click the green “Clone or download” > “Download ZIP” button.

IsmaelJanuary 11, 2019 at 3:56 pm #1052775Hi Ismael,
Thanks for you help. We have activated the plugin and will see how it works. Any progress will be updated in this ticket.
January 13, 2019 at 10:05 pm #1053415Hello Ismael,
We are still receiving spam so the re-captcha is not working. Could it be because we are using one footer for the whole website? Please advice us what to do next, we currently have Wordfence, Askimet and the recaptcha running and still receiving this spam through the enfold mail-form.
We are aiming to use Enfold for another project but we would like to have this fixed first.
If needed I can provide the code of the mail, our login credentials for the site are provided before in this ticket. You could have a look yourself.
January 14, 2019 at 2:49 pm #1053695Hi inento,
You are not doing anything wrong by using the same footer of on all pages. You’re using all the plugins that supposed to help, but spammers are getting more sophisticated, unfortunately.
You might want to hire someone to configure the plugins for you in such a way that there is the max result.

VictoriaJanuary 15, 2019 at 9:15 am #1054005Hi Vicoria,
We meant could there be anything in the Enfold theme that is vulnerable because all measures are taken into account. I think this is something in Enfold it self as we use the same shared IP for other websites and these do not have this problem.
The max result is already present, getting the security plugins tuned is not that hard. We will disable the contact form and not use the enfold theme.
Thanks for your time and patience.
