Good morning. I wanted to know if today you can update the theme enfold in a traditional way or continue to give error.
Thank you allOctober 31, 2018 at 1:58 pm #1028473Hey,
Thanks for contacting us!
Traditional way would throw an error if you are using an older version than Enfold 4.5 because Envato updated their API, therefore we needed to adjust auto updater function in Enfold files.
It currently works fine but since updated code is in Enfold 4.5, manual update would be necessary, either via FTP – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#reinstall-or-update-using-ftp or alternatively, you can install this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/, download the latest version of Enfold from ThemeForest and upload it in Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload and theme will be updated.
Also, some users reported an issue validating personal token – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#what-is-an-envato-personal-token. Our devs suspect that Envato stores cookies with login data/connection data in the browser and therefore might block requests. If that happens to be the case, please try validating your personal token in incognito mode – https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
Auto updater should function correctly again after updating to Enfold 4.5 and inserting a valid personal token in Enfold theme options.
Best regards,

November 1, 2018 at 12:31 pm #1028824Hi fren,
The theme files on Themeforest is always the latest version, you can verify that by opening style.css in the theme package and check the version there.
Best regards,
RikardNovember 10, 2018 at 1:32 pm #1032007Hi Rikard.
This morning I tried to update an enfold theme with the plug in “Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File”.
I went to my reserved themeforest area but in the download section I find only version 4.4.1 of the theme.
I would not want the last theme store to have been done when that version was still available and therefore I am not available for a download of the latest version.
Thank you all.November 10, 2018 at 4:21 pm #1032032Hi,
@minogig please note that often Theme Forest doesn’t change the text of the version number on your download page, please try downloading it anyways and open the style.css in the theme package and check the version at the top.
It is most likely the v4.5Best regards,
MikeNovember 10, 2018 at 4:54 pm #1032040Hello. I installed and updated the theme enfold to the latest version with the plugin “Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File”. but now I have this message both on the domain http://www.carioka.it, both on arearivenditori.carioka.it.
“Attention: The old Envato API is deprecated and will be shut down soon. In order to be able to use automated theme updates please generate a new valid API token and enter it above. Your themeforest username and your old API key will then be removed from your installation since they are no longer required.”
How can I solve this?
Thank’s a lot
November 10, 2018 at 5:16 pm #1032042Hi,
You will need to create a Envato personal token this page explains how to.Best regards,
MikeNovember 12, 2018 at 2:39 am #1032388I just get a spinning wheel after installing my private token
November 12, 2018 at 2:45 am #1032391Everything listed here was checked when creating the token..yet: https://prnt.sc/lh5ue1
November 12, 2018 at 6:51 pm #1032689I noted that when I also check this option:
“View your account profile details”
It validates!
November 14, 2018 at 6:32 am #1033354Hi,
That is good news, thanks for sharing I will let the rest of the team know.Best regards,
MikeNovember 14, 2018 at 5:17 pm #1033572Np prob. Thanks!
November 15, 2018 at 8:39 am #1033827November 16, 2018 at 11:39 pm #1034628Hmm, this doesn’t seem to be very efficient….API calling shouldn’t be so difficult? This has been the common theme for me: https://prnt.sc/ljbth2
November 17, 2018 at 5:48 am #1034645Hi,
Sorry, perhaps I was confused, I read your earlier post that checking the option:
“View your account profile details” validated it?
The screenshot you shared suggests that the correct permissions were not allowed.Best regards,
MikeNovember 17, 2018 at 5:28 pm #1034760mike, if anyone here is to be confused it’s me :)
I am using the same protocol and getting different results with the token/API. Not quite sure why.November 17, 2018 at 5:46 pm #1034765I added ‘Verify Account Details” … but does this look wrong to you? https://prnt.sc/ljjpwt
November 17, 2018 at 10:12 pm #1034788Hi,
This screen looks correct: https://prnt.sc/ljjpwt
I meant that your error message seems to be saying that it can’t connect: https://prnt.sc/ljbth2
I thought from your earlier post that you had valuated the token, are you trying to do multiple sites and one had valuated, but now the next one wont?
Some people have said that when valuating multiple sites, they needed to use incognito mode because Theme Forest was setting cookies.Best regards,
MikeNovember 19, 2018 at 5:40 pm #1035220Hey Mike,
That is correct.
I appreciate the follow-up.
Let me give that a try and see what happens!Justin
