hi,
i have read a lot about on this forum about the problem to update from 4.4.1 to 4.5.As I’m not in a hurry and have many sites using enfold that works fine, I do not want to risk losing some customization with overwritting
I just want to know if Kriesi will propose soon a simple solution to update from wp ( for example an interim update – 4.4.2 ;-).
Best regards,
Stan
October 17, 2018 at 6:20 pm #1022952I am also having the same problem updating at all, let alone to 4.5. My update has been stuck at 4.2 and I have been waiting for an update that allows me to do it from the dashboard but nothing yet. I get the following error when trying to update:
“An error occurred while updating Enfold: Download failed. Problem downloading theme”
Can anyone help me to solve this problem?October 18, 2018 at 5:38 am #1023142Hi,
Yes, we can help you solve the problem, it’s included in version 4.5 so all you need to do is to update to that. Please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

RikardOctober 18, 2018 at 10:20 am #1023248The following steps will solve the issue:
1. Download the latest Enfold update from themeforest
2. Open the admin part of your wordpress site and download the pluging called Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File
>make sure you select the option within this plugin to generate an automated backup from your current theme
3. Go to themes, upload the entire enfold zip-file and install the new theme (do not delete any old theme from the theme overview)
> the plugin will update the theme without overwriting any other things; it justs updated the theme.
4. Activate the themeOctober 18, 2018 at 10:25 am #1023253Hi Rikard,
I have seen that many people have various problems with the particular procedure for updating and i know you are doing your best.
As said I have several sites, I’m not in a hurry to update, and I do not want to take the risk of corrupting my sites and spend lot of time doing this.
So my initial question in this topic was to know if Kriesi was going to propose a simple solution to update from wp ( as an intermediate version that includes the correction).
best regards
Stan
October 18, 2018 at 6:58 pm #1023570Hi sdesign-web,
This kind of solution will be available, but we do not have an ETA for it, unfortunately.
So if the update is critical, you’ll need to do it via FTP, if not, please wait.
Best regards,
VictoriaOctober 26, 2018 at 3:57 pm #1026861Hi Victoria,
Do you still confirm that if i wait there will be an alternate and full secure way to update my 4.4.1 enfold live sites to 4.5 ? because i have read on the forum that there will be no other solution than the manually update.
Best regards,
Stan

November 29, 2018 at 9:28 pm #1039156Was there any update to this way of doing it? i don’t want to update to 4.5 manually.
December 2, 2018 at 6:11 am #1039779Hi coolwindinc,
The update to 4.5 has to be done manually unfortunately, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
Also please read this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/updating-to-enfold-4-5-and-validating-personal-token/
