Dear Enfold team,
I’ve just discovered that the 5 footer widget columns present standard information (“interesting links”, “pages”, etc.) instead of displaying the content I set up – and which is still in the widget-area.The socket is displayed correctly.
I switched the footer display off and then on again, and the default settings are seen again.
I then cleared the cache, also without the desired effect.
I use the enfold version 4.9.What can I do to show my footer content again?
Best regards

Thanks for contacting us!
Could you please create temporary admin logins and post them here privately so we can look into it? :)

Of course!
Thanks for caring!

GrobiMarch 9, 2022 at 3:15 pm #1343858Hi,
Thanks for that. What happens if you activate the parent theme, or remove header.php and footer.php from your child theme? You might have to replace those files in your child, then add your customisations back in after that.

RikardMarch 9, 2022 at 6:10 pm #1343882Hi all,
got the same problem. Updating to 4.9 breaks our footers too – showing the default wordpress footers, without any further options to correct this. If you try to change the footer using the theme (using display / widgets from the WP menu), it does not do anything.
I’ve restored a backup to the version before 7-feb and everything works again as expected. We do not have any customisations in our childtheme. We do have shortcodes in our footers.
March 9, 2022 at 8:33 pm #1343905Hi ntvchris,
We can’t help you out unless we can see the actual problem. You could update on a staging version of the site, and give us access to it in a new thread for example.

RikardMarch 10, 2022 at 9:48 pm #1344057I am having this same issue.
March 11, 2022 at 3:32 am #1344087Hi GiantTitan,
Thanks for giving us admin access.
You need to update footer.php of your child theme (based on Enfold 4.9).
I tried to rename footer.php file so it would be ignored and the footer widgets were showing the correct widget items, I have renamed it back.Best regards,
NikkoMarch 11, 2022 at 10:14 am #1344106Hi Nikko,
this was actually the hint that I needed. Our child theme did contain a slightly altered footer.php. The only thing that was added was a simple copyright text.
I’ve just deleted the footer.php of the child theme – and afterwards everything worked as expected. Cheers!March 11, 2022 at 12:33 pm #1344127Hi ntvchris,
Great, I’m glad that you managed to solve your problem, and thanks for sharing your solution :-)

RikardMarch 17, 2022 at 5:21 pm #1344957Hi.
Sorry for my late replay.
I’m obviously doing something wrong. If I rename the footer.php in my child theme (footer.bak), my site doesn’t show a footer anymore. What am I doing wrong?
Best regards
GrobiMarch 17, 2022 at 5:29 pm #1344960….and it is the same, when I replace the child-footer.php with the 4.9-enfold-one.

Please share FTP login details with us as well. Also please give us permission to edit relevant files, and verify that you have a backup of your site.

GrobiMarch 18, 2022 at 3:54 pm #1345105Hi Grobi,
FTP logins did not work for me. Could you please check them once again?
Edit: I updated your header.php file in Appearance > Editor and that helped. You only had Facebook domain verification code in header.php file. I moved it to the bottom of functions.php file instead. You can remove header.php file from your child theme.
Please review your website :)

March 18, 2022 at 6:45 pm #1345140Hi Yigit,
first of all: thank you very much for solving this and being so fast…
Than: to be honest – I do not know how I can “update” the header.php – and I even do not understand why the footer display changes from one day to another. Was this perhaps happening together with an enfold-update? Sorry, hope that this is not a silly question. In every case thank you a lot for giving me help!
Best regards
GrobiMarch 18, 2022 at 8:14 pm #1345151Hi Grobi,
Great, I’m glad that Yigit could help you out. Templates which are being overridden in child themes don’t have to be updated in general, but if there is a change in the parent theme file, then the file in the child theme might have to be updated as well, like in this case.

RikardMarch 19, 2022 at 12:47 pm #1345182Hi Rikard,
thank you for your answer.
“Updated” means here (in general), that I take the new and just updated file from the parent theme, put it in the child theme, replacing the old one. Is that correct like this? (I thought, that I had done this – with no good result).Best regards
GrobiMarch 19, 2022 at 6:43 pm #1345200Hi,
Yes that is correct, updating means simply replacing the file in the child theme with the parent theme file. After that, the customisation can be added back in.
