    Hi,

    I use the testmonial slider with 4 items. But there are shown 7 ?! And the first 3 are empty! So the whole thing doesn’t work properly.
    Please have a look at: http://wordpress.p587924.webspaceconfig.de/

    Also I would like to keep a fixed hight of the testimonial row, how to do?

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers from Germany

    Hi Tim,

    Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    1. Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
    2. Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
    3. Click ” Create New “.
    4. Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
      ( to be sure that we have enough time to debug ).
    5. Click ” Submit “.
    6. You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.

    When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
    If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi slikslok,

    Thanks for giving us admin access.
    The first testimonial contains a lot of HTML tags which breaks the testimonial slider.
    I have removed those and it fixed the slider and now only shows 4 items.

    Best regards,

    Hi Nikko,

    thanks for fixing it. Where does the tags came from? Maybe copy and paste? Where can I clear this up by myself?

    And please have a look why the child them ignores css styles. tehy only work, when I place them in the Enfold Style area.

    Best regards,

    Hi tim,

    When you copy the text and paste it on Visual (tab) then it copies all HTML elements, to make it safe, paste it in Text (tab), so it only copies the text that you need.
    Can you tell us what CSS code is not working? when this happens, usually it’s because there’s an unclosed tag or comment on the CSS block before it.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #1299432

    All of them. I’ve just pastet in the child theme. As I can see, there is no syntax error….
    When you copy it back to the enfold style tab, it works fine

    #1299437

    Hi tim,

    I see, but I only found the issue in the first slide, the second to fourth slide was all good.
    Anyways, just let us know if you still need further assistance or if we can close this thread.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #1299440

    Oh, you misunderstood me. Its not about the slider, its about the whole layout! Have a look at the header or the tables

    When you paste the css you find in the child-them back to the enfold style area, everything worsk fine. But within the style.css of the child-theme its totally ignored!

    Forget to say: this behaviour is in Chrome (OS x) – it works in Safari – whats teh reasen?
    That I am logged in the backend?
    I can#t log out every time while styling things…

    #1299442

    Just checked it: the layout is also destroyed when been logged out. Chrome doesn’t handle the css styles right, but I can’t see a reason for that…

    #1299578

    Hi slikslok,

    I think this is more of a caching issue.
    I tried to check it when I’m logged in and I could see the issues (also stylesheet is not updated, see screenshots in private content)
    If I use Chrome in incognito mode and not login then I could see the style.css of the child theme working properly (also stylesheet is updated, see screenshots)

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Thank you Nikko,
    as Chrome is my main-browser I need a solution for this issue. What do you suggest? Can’t log out and log in after every little change…

    Regards
    Tim

    #1299612

    Hi Tim,

    To be honest, I’m also surprised with this issue, since the cached version is when you’re logged (usually it’s the other way around).
    Since you’re still working on it you can have two windows for Chrome, one is logged in and the other should use incognito mode, so you don’t have to login and logout, you just need to switch windows (alt + tab).
    As for the issue, can you try to switch to the default theme then switch back to the Enfold theme (I had a case before where that fixes the caching issue, I hope it works on your site).

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    After checking out, deleting cookies and cache, I have still css issues under chrome, as you can see in the screenshot:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/klqi6n2vsmuctwc/Bildschirmfoto%202021-05-11%20um%2009.23.18.png?dl=0
    I need a solution for that. Or, bevor selling this theme, you make clear in marketing, that it does’t work properly under Chrome…

    Please let me know, what to do.

    Best regards

    I have the exact same problems by using Safari. So it is not a browser specific problem.
    As good security-practice, I delete all themes which are not in use, so I cant switch back.
    And honestly I don’t want to fix such serious problems with trial&error-steps and without any explanation for the reasons. I expect that your developers fix this massive bug. Many people paid for the theme and this is a massive problem because it means a very weak workflow. The css area in Enfolds-style area is much to small and it lacks of the css-syntax error you have, when using a child theme. Also its annoying, that you have to use 2 different browsers to see the results of css-changes.
    So all in all I beg for a solid solution.

    Hi Tim,

    I have checked it again and it seems the cache has already expired and now fetching the correct css and js files. (screenshot in private content)
    Also, I would disagree that the theme doesn’t work properly with Chrome since it’s obviously a caching issue and not the theme.
    As for using two browsers, it’s just a temporary workaround because of the weird interaction caused by caching.

    Hi Nikko,
    sorry, thats wrong. This morning css does not work properly in chrome, in safari it does.
    And I don’t agree: a theme hast to interact correctly with the caching framework, right?

    So, obviously you want to treat me to go along with this. Can you say somethnig about the will of your developer-team to fix this? Or do you just say its the caching not the theme and thats it?

    Regards
    Tim

    #1300061

    Hi Tim,

    If I did not try investigate the issue then just tell you it’s caching from the beginning of our discussion then I would have really blamed caching without pointing to any evidence (I gave you screenshots of the content of style.css when logged in and not, I posted it again in private content).
    If this is not a caching issue, then why is the style.css from the child theme which was not fetching when you’re logged in the other day, now working properly?
    If it’s something we can control by changing the code of the theme then that would have already added that to the theme however this is not the case for caching.
    If something goes wrong we try to help our users to figure out the cause of the issue so the problem can be addressed, if we find out it’s a bug in the theme we report it to our devs and try to give a workaround to our users if we can, if the cause is the plugin we tell it to our users and try to atleast give some evidence why we believe it’s the plugin, in this case it’s caching and I did try the possible solutions that can be done in the backend which unfortunately is not working but then after a single day the styles are being fetched. Since some hosting provider have built-in caching in their servers then that might be something that you can check on with your hosting provider.
    Caching is great for performance but it gives a lot of headache when enabled during development and some of it still caches even if the plugin is deactivated.

    Hello Nikko,

    I can follow your argumentation, BUT: I don’t have this issues in older projects where I also use enfold by the same hoster?

    And the main problem is: I now don’t know if my css works or not, and I can’t wait one day to chek it!

    For example: Please have a look at the header. I want to style the tel-Link. If i do it in the enfold-editor with
    it works (but with this way I can’t style hover-behaviour…).

    If I style it in the style.css with this 3 different options:

    a[href*=”tel”] {font-size: 17px !important;}
    header a {font-size: 17px !important;}
    a#tel {font-size: 17px !important;}

    it doesn’t.
    So this really drives me crazy, you never know if it is a caching or a css-syntax problem. What is going on in this specail case? I have the same Problems styling the form:

    So what can I do now to fluidly work on my project and see my css-chages immediatly? Any suggestions what exactly should communicate to my Hoster about caching problems?

    Best Regards
    Tim

    Hi Tim,

    I have added this code in your functions.php file:

    function enfold_child_enqueue_parent_style() {
        $version = '1.0.3';

    	wp_dequeue_style( 'avia-style' );
    	wp_deregister_script( 'avia-style' );
        wp_enqueue_style( 'child-style', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css', array(), $version );
    }
    add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'enfold_child_enqueue_parent_style', 20 );

    If you make changes to your child theme’s style.css just increment version number with 1.
    Let us know if this helps.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #1300282

    Hi Nikko,

    unfortunatly not, same behaviour: css in Enfolds editor area works, in style.css not.
    Also I tried some styles in the layout.css in the parent theme – also ingored!
    All this isn’t effected by logging out after saving changes or not.
    Meanwhile I did a php-update from 7.2.x to 7.4.x – also without any changes. Also I turned of the faster php-options of my hoster, also without any effect.

    Best regards
    tim

    #1300370

    Hi Tim,

    I did test it out on your site by changing this code in style.css of the child theme to 18px (turned it back after checking) then just change the version number from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 (increment by one after each change) and it worked properly:

    #tel {
        font-size: 17px !important;
    }

    You can also use Quick CSS for it since the change does show unlike style.css
    As for layout.css I believe that’s in the parent theme, since it caches styles and js files, to force it to fetch new ones, you need to increment the version number before checking for example it’s now 4.8.2, you can change it to 4.8.2.1 then you’ll see these changes show up properly.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #1300373

    Hi Nikko,
    does this mean I have to change the file-name after adding new styles via ftp? I understood that this will happen autmatically.

    Best Regards
    Tim

    #1300382

    Hi Tim,

    No, not the file name, only the version number in style.css.
    If you notice WordPress adds the version number after the file (link in private content).
    You can inspect your site to verify this.
    If you make changes to any css or js files, in some sites/servers this is automatically cached for a certain period.
    But if you change the version number, let’s say to 4.8.2.1 then a new style URL is fetched (basically the same just different version but you’ll notice the difference in the content) the 4.8.2 version number will hold the old css values while 4.8.2.1 will be forced to generate a new cached css file.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #1300391

    I changed the font-size of #tel to 27px and change version to 1.0.4 (I let it in this state, so you can check this) -> doesn’t work, even if I log out from backend

    #1300393

    Hi Tim,

    I could see the it taking effect properly on my end (please see screenshot).
    Also I have updated the code I added in functions.php with this one:

    function enfold_child_enqueue_parent_style() {
    	$child_theme = wp_get_theme( 'enfold-child' );

    	wp_dequeue_style( 'avia-style' );
    	wp_deregister_script( 'avia-style' );
    	wp_enqueue_style( 'child-style', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css', array(), $child_theme->get( 'Version' ) );
    }
    add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'enfold_child_enqueue_parent_style', 20 );

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hello Nikko,

    it works now. Thanks for your patience and work. You can close this ticket but please have a look at my other ones.
    Let me know, if you plan to implement this in the theme, so I don’t need to count this anymore.

    Best regards
    Tim

    Hi Tim,

    We’re glad to hear that :)
    Thanks for using Enfold and have a great day!

    Best regards,
