WooCommerce Sidebar Issue

I’m trying to follow the tutorial: Single Product Page Left or Right Sidebar. Something isn’t clicking because I cannot the sidebar to appear on the left (or right) side. It appears below the product summary.

I used the chrome developer panel to inspect the structure of the single product layout and compared it to another user’s site (his looks right). From what I can tell my sidebar is a child element in relation to the product container, his sidebar looks like it’s a sibling.

I imported the small business – flat demo content…could that have anything to do with it? I’ve already tried disabling all plugins…
