I renamed the German language files de_DE.mo and de_DE.po from /wp-content/themes/enfold/lang to enfold-de_DE.mo and enfold-de_DE.po and put them in /wp-content/languages/themes. But this does not work… How can I install them?

    Hi Edi!

    Thank you for using Enfold.

Are you trying to translate the frontend of the site? or the wp dashboard? You don’t have to copy or rename any files. Please refer to this link for more info: https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress_in_Your_Language

    Best regards,

    Dear Ismael

I have not changed anything. But normally theme translations are installed as I described.

Not copying or renaming any files and setting the language as described in the Codex in Settings > General > Site Language does not work in the frontend. Or it is a problem with the string “You are here:”. This is not shown in German.

    Hey Edi,

The standard way of changing the language for the backend is as stated in the codex.

As for the front end you can either use a google translate plugin (for eg.) if your content is in English.

Alternatively you can use WPML (premium plugin) as stated in this thread:

Now it works… Its my fault. Using de_CH (for Switzerland) I had to rename the language files de_DE.
