I have no idea if this is even an Enfold issue, but I’m out of ideas now.
My problem is that whenever I try to edit a post or page, the screen reloads. After the reload, I can edit, but sometimes the page reloads when I’m working on it. If I manage to save my work it then asks me if I want to leave the page and lose edits or remain.
Sometimes, when clicking on Posts > All Posts, after the reload, no posts are shown, until I click again. Sometimes, when attempting to look at all pages, it reloads but shows me all posts instead and then reloads again to show no posts (as above). I can then click on the pages link and see them.
In other words, this seems a behaviour which I cannot track down to one issue. It happens in both Chrome and Firefox (latest versions) and I’m using the latest version of Enfold. But it always happens!
This does not happen on another sites I edit which use a different theme. Also, annoyingly, my wife can edit without any issues at all on her computer.
I’m guessing it has something to do with my computer, but I can’t think why it wouldn’t also affect the other sites as well. I’ve looked everywhere online, but can find nobody else with this issue. I’ve tried disabling extensions and plugins and nothing changes. It seemed to happen overnight, but don’t ask me if it was after any sort of update (computer or Enfold) because I cannot recall. I just assumed it was a temporary glitch which would be resolved with another update or whatever, but it hasn’t.
Quite frankly I’m out of ideas about this. It makes editing a real pain, a bit like Russian Roulette in fact (which is why I’ve been leaving a lot of it to my wife) but I really would like to resolve it somehow. I simply can’t think what else might be causing it.Hey nigdowser,
Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,

Thanks for that, this problem is likely due to the WordPress block editor. What happens if you select to use the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options?

Thanks for that, I created a test page and worked on it for a few minutes but I can’t see anything reloading at any point. How can we reproduce the problem you are having?

RikardI genuinely don’t know if you can reproduce the problem. After all, my wife, on an identical machine, has no problems. It must be something about my machine, I suppose, but how that could affect only one WP site and not others is beyond me. The fact that it happens in two different browsers is also strange.
I’ve searched online, I’ve been to Mac forums, to wpengine, to wordpress and to you and I still have no clue as to why it happens or what might be causing it. I must admit, coming to you was my last resort. I don’t know why pages and posts reload, only that it happens only in Enfold and only on my machine and in Firefox and Chrome. Anything else I do in the admin area, such as reply to comments, apply settings to plugins and so on, they all work normally. Only when I edit pages or posts do I have the issue.
Thanks for trying to resolve the issue which I suspect has little to do with the theme. At least I know I’ve tried every avenue open to me (apart from buying a new machine).
If you have any ideas at all, please let me know because I’m out of them.

That for the feedback, it does sound a bit strange yes. What happens if you reset all router etc in the network you are working on? You could also try to create a new WordPress user and use that for a while to see if that changes anything. Also please try to clear all caches from your browsers and restart them and your local machine.

RikardThanks again for your ideas. I’ve done all of them except for making a new user, which I’ll try. I’ll also try Opera and see if that makes any difference (Safari is the same).
As it started without any obvious change on my part, I can only hope that, one day, it will stop and I can go back to normal editing.
If I do find a solution, I’ll add it here on the very, very slim chance that someone else might have the same issue.
Thanks again.Well. the good news is that I can edit in Opera using my normal account. However, when the page or post to be edited is loading, I see a warning in the address bar of content being blocked. I can see nothing which is missing from the backend.
I can therefore only conjecture that there is some setting in Chrome and Firefox which is causing this and which is absent in Opera. I have previously tried turning off all plugins and extensions in Chrome but that had no effect.
I don’t know if this will be of any use to any others on this forum, but I offer it for what it’s worth; if you have issues writing or editing in either Chrome or Firefox, try Opera…

Thanks for sharing your experience, though it should work normally in all browsers of course. The problem you are having must be local to your machine, exactly what is causing it is very difficult to pinpoint unfortunately. We’ll leave this thread open in case you should have any further problems on the topic.

RikardLatest update is that, after some time Opera began acting in the same way, ie reloading everything. Admittedly, it was a much quicker reload, but still it happened. So now I’m going back to Chrome but using an incognito window. The only minor annoyance is that I have to copy and paste my credentials to login, but, fingers crossed, there is no reloading going on… at least for the time being.
Still haven’t been able to identify the culprit, but if/when I do I’ll break open the champagne!

Thanks for the feedback. I’m not sure if this helps, but try to open web inspector and click on console, before reloading you might capture some js errors that might give a lead to the issue.

I tried to check on it further but I didn’t experience any issues on my end.
I can only think of few things that might be a culprit, one is cache (but since you mentioned it’s already cleared then maybe it’s something else), second is probably browser extensions for example chrome has some extensions that might be conflicting, third browser cookies, fourth (highly unlikely), try to checking for malwares.

I’ve turned off extensions and cleared cookies. remember that this happens on three different browsers so malware might be a possibility, but Malwarebytes shows no issues. It’s all just confusing and annoying and I can seem to get no handle on it. However, I’ll keep trying! :-)
