    Hello,

    I have just located a problem on one of my sites with Enfold.

    I installed the latest version of Enfold thinking it would fix the problem, all plugins were disabled to test, with another theme everything works fine. Enfold is the problem.

    Everything is up to date, theme, plugin and wordpress and there is 500mb of memory for WP, I also tried to put php 8.0

    But when I activate Enfold, all the server resources are used and end up crashing the server!

    What can I do to fix the problem?

    Thank you for the inquiry.

    Where can we check the issue? Would you mind posting the content of the error logs?

    You might want to disable the Performance > File Compression settings temporarily to prevent the theme from creating entries in the database, which contain the content of every scripts and stylesheets in the site.

    You could also disable the new post css file feature, which also creates entries in the database. Just add this code in the functions.php file.

    Hello Ismael,

    I can’t show it to you for the moment because if I activate the theme, it’s not only the site that crashes but all the sites on the server, moreover for the moment, my client has activated his theme again without telling me and for the moment the site is running well.

    I checked the compression settings and they are disabled for the moment but it is not me who disabled it.

    If it happens again, I will look for the error log file and come to present it to you.

    The problem continues, here are the logs but there is nothing in them, when I put the site in “public”, the server crashes with a 503 message for the whole server, when I put the wordpress in maintenance mode, the site works.

    Looks like you posted the Apache error logs, and there seems to be an issue with mp4 videos. Where did you add this video? (see private field)

    Did you also enable WordPress debugging and error logs? Please post the info here so that we can check the actual PHP or WordPress error.

    The MP4 video is not on the server anymore, I asked the client to delete all the big files.

    Thank you for the info.

    Based on the errors above, there seems to be an issue with the wp-maintenance-mode plugin and some of the theme files are missing. One of the users is also hitting its maximum connection limit.

    Let us walk through the errors one at a time.

    The error or warning above states that the plugin is trying to access an undefined index named social_instagram. Disabling the plugin temporarily or completely removing it should prevent the issue from occurring.

    [01-Dec-2021 13:01:04 UTC] PHP Warning: require_once(includes/helper-privacy.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/actugedinne.be/wordpress/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php on line 187

    It says here that the includes/helper-privacy.php and the includes/admin/register-dynamic-styles.php files in the enfold theme directory do not exist. Please make sure that the theme is updated to version 4.8.7.2.

    I am not really sure what is causing this error but it looks like the user (see private field) has exceeded the maximum MySQL database connections per user. You may need to contact your hosting provider and ask them about this error.

    Hello Ismael,

    Thank you for your analysis, I go over each point with you.

    For the plugin wp maintenance mode, it was installed yesterday, well after the failure of the theme, to put the site offline, when I put it online, it crashes after a few minutes, if I rename the directory enfold temporarily, the site comes back online, so the problem is the theme not the plugin The failure was already existing before I install this plugin.

    For the PHP Warning error : require_once(includes/helper-privacy.php)

    I completely uninstalled the theme on wordpress and I installed the latest version

    For the last error, PHP Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/1226) : user ‘p5646_19’ has exceeded the resource ‘max_user_connections’ (current value : 20)

    It’s not a user, it’s just a warning, so normally it doesn’t block the server, it’s the enfold theme that makes too many requests?

    I asked my host, for him the server is running fine and he asked me to check with you the specifications needed to run enfold on their server

    The theme should work fine on any servers with at least 1 virtual CPU and 1 GB of RAM or less. But it may vary based on the traffic received by the website on a daily basis. A lot of the Enfold users subscribe to the most basic server plans and the site runs well without having this issue. Since you are using a shared server or the server is shared by a lot of sites, it is possible that other sites are contributing to that crash. It is also possible that one of the plugins installed in the site is causing the issue.

    Did you ask your hosting provider why the following errors occur?

    Thanks Ismael, I’ll already look into it with the host and come back with the results.

    I don’t think there is a plugin problem, I have disabled all of them and the problem persists. When I disable Enfold, the problem disappears. When I activate Enfold, after a few seconds, the server becomes inaccessible

    Another question, it seems that Layerslide wp is provided along with the theme but without the updates, this plugin was not a security issue?

    Sorry for the delay. The PHP configurations looks fine, but we would recommend updating to PHP 8.0 or later versions.

    What did the hosting provider tell you about the “client denied by server configuration” error? Unfortunately, we are not familiar with it, so we may not be able to help you further. Please keep in touch with your hosting provider.

    Hello Ismael,

    Tonight I saw that the theme has been updated and so I installed it, with all the cleaning I did, the plugins I added, I just released the site by removing the maintenance mode and for now, the site seems to work normally, so I will continue to monitor, thank you for your help
