Hello, the other day while working on my site I refreshed a page and got a blank screen except for [an error occurred while processing this directive]. I contacted the support of my hosting provider (Bluehost) and they updated the pHP, which made the front end of my site visible again, but I continued to get the same error when I tried to access the dashboard. They have since gotten back to me with the following email:

It looks like initially something got messed up with the default error handling pages so that when it had a php 500 error it didnt know how to reflect that. I was able to get it to the point that the site is visible and secure.

In order to do that I had to make a default .htaccess so i would avoid the caching rules that were in place, then i saw:

[09-Jun-2018 18:44:32 UTC] PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home3/tradeafg/public_html/parsaafghanistan/wp-content/themes/enfold/framework/php/class-framework-widgets.php on line 3030

That told me there was an error in the theme so I changed it to the default twentyseventeen theme for testing purposes. The last straw was the plugins that I had to deactivate to finally remove all cache. At this point I’m leaning towards the theme being the biggest culprit causing the rest of the issues to cascade. I recommend addressing that with the developer of the enfold theme.

    Any ideas?

    Hey AlyssaMandy,

Your work has not disappeared. Can you please have Enfold enabled? Which version of php are you running?

    Best regards,
    Victoria

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, Victoria. From what I understood from Bluehost support, if I reactivate the Enfold theme I will get the same error as before (“an error occurred while processing this directive”) and will no longer be able to access the backend of my website. Should I try anyway?

Also, I checked on my Bluehost cPanel and I am using PHP 5.6. I understood the Bluehost support tried to update to PHP 7.0 but it was not working and they said it had something to do with Enfold. Which version of PHP should I be running?

    Thank you so much.

    Hi AlyssaMandy,

I see Enfold activated and it is 4.4, did you manage to get it working? Do you have any other issues at the moment?

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    Hello Victoria,

Yes it seems to be working now, although there are some small issues. One is the widgets section of the dashboard. I am unable to edit or use any of the widgets or expand the footer/sidebar etc widget areas. I checked with my host and they said this is likely something I need to address with theme support. Would you be able to take a look?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, though I can’t reproduce the problem with the widgets under Appearance->Widgets. They all expand as they should on my end, did you try to use a different browser to see if that helps?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Hi Rikard, I tried using a different browser (Safari) and it works fine, thank you!

Great, glad you got it working. Please let us know if you should need any further help on the topic or if we can close it.

    Best regards,
