Good afternoon,
Yesterday we have received an e-mail from Google which states that our website does not pass the Mobile Friendly test and that this will have consequences for our mobile findability.
The results were (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=http%3A%2F%2Falcadis.nl%2F):
– Content is wider than screen
– Links are too close to eachother
When I view the website on my mobile, everything looks just fine. Also just today I have setup our test environment, which is an exact duplicate of our live website…and guess what…it passed the test…(https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftest.alcadis.nl%2F)
Could you please help me find the problem which is causing my live website to fail the test?
Hey Alcadis!
Try deactivating all of your plugins.
The test results says your robots.txt file is blocking all of the CSS and JS from loading so you could try temporarily deleting your robots.txt file to see what happens.
Regards,
Elliott
Hi Elliott,
The problem was indeed the robots.txt file that was blocking the CSS and JS from loading. I have slightly adjusted the robots.txt file and now we are mobile friendly :)
Thanks for your help!
