    It is absolutely critical that this is corrected immediately! After updating to Enfold’s latest theme, the site is no longer accessible to view or to login to the backend.

    I am receiving the following error messages:

    Warning: require_once(config-events-calendar/config.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/cpanelusername/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php on line 427

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required 'config-events-calendar/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/cpanelusername/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php on line 427

    Hey Starkos!

    Please do the following to fix the issue

    1. Connect to your ftp and rename enfold from enfold to enfold2
    2. Login to WP Admin
    3. Renamed enfold folder back to normal

    Your issue will get solved.

    After renaming the enfold folder to enfold2, I was able to login to WP admin. However, once logged in, I changed the enfold2 folder name back to enfold and received the same error messages again. Please help! URGENT. Thank you.

    Also, I found this possible fix online, but am waiting to hear your response first if you recommend another way.

    Here is what I found online:

  • Log into your web server via FTP or your web host’s control panel.*
  • Locate the root of your WordPress install (this is where you’ll find folders for wp-content, wp-admin, and wp-includes)
  • Look for a file called .maintenance
  • Delete it
  • Refresh your WordPress site and sigh a giant sigh of relief that everything’s normal again.

Hi,

.maintenance is used by wordpress during update and it is not recommended to delete this file as it may cause unknow issues in future.

If it does not help, I am afraid you might need to update the theme manually – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

The issue was fixed by the following:
1) Created backup via FileZilla of Enfold theme on server to my local machine
2) Downloaded fresh copy of Enfold theme
3) Overwrote the server copy of Enfold theme with the local fresh copy of Enfold theme
