Hi Enfold Team
On a major clients site I have a fullwidth easy slider with video-sequenses presenting the company.
It is crusial to the site, that this works!
After updating to Enfold 4.3.2 it no longer works correctly. In Chrome the first videoslide do not autoplay. Only clicking the slider (or going to next slide) activates the video (and the slides with more videos).
FireFox and Explorer act weird: They sort of just “rush” through the slides, first showing backup image, then briefly video – seems different from load to load.I looked in your forum and found a solution by Ismael: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/video-autoplay-4/#post-947097
– however this seems to do nothing (I did flush cach etc offcourse)Trying with videos from Vimeo changed nothing either – just made the play-symbol visible, not autoplay.
Please help. This is very crusial to my client – as you can see visiting the site
Very best regards
May 17, 2018 at 8:13 am #957988Hey Carsten,
Thank you for using Enfold.
I pushed the issue to the development team. Does it autoplay when the video is muted? Where can we find the actual slider with the videos? Please create a test page.
Best regards,
IsmaelMay 17, 2018 at 8:36 am #958002Hej Ismael
Thanks for getting back to me.
The slider with video-sequenses is on the very front page – see url supplied earlyer.
It is crucial that this video slider works, since it is presenting/introducing this rather large company.
After updating to Enfold 4.3.2 it no longer works correctly – different behaviours on different browsers as described.
A strange observation: As mentioned in Chrome clicking the slider (or going to next slide) activates the video (and the slides with more videos), but also scrolling down below the slider after first slide has loaded (that one is not a video and I made it stay for a long 9 sec.) will “trick” the autoplay? We are in the middle of a large campaign and the timing for such a flaw could not be worse, and my client is running out of patience with me.
I can’t rollback the version either because I do need the cookie consent feature.
I trust you will help me out here, Ismael – you did before :-)
Very best regards
May 17, 2018 at 9:50 am #958055Hey Ismael – did not answer your question about videos being muted – yes they are muted when making them in Adobe Premiere…
May 17, 2018 at 11:15 am #958094Hey again Ismael – latest update:
All 4 video sequences in the front page slider were, as mentioned, muted, contained no audio tracks.
Just to make sure I went through the original Adobe Premiere projects and found that 2 of them contained audiotracks in the project. These were muted, as mentioned, when exported from Premiere to final video for the slider.
To erase any doubt I now completely deleted any audiotrack in the Premiere projects themselves – and exported (again with no audio) these for use in the slider.
Unfortunately exactly same behaviour as described earlier. So the “muting” is not the issue here…
I will undertake no further action – waiting for your response and hopefully help.
Thanks in advance.
May 21, 2018 at 5:58 am #959571Hi,
Thanks for the info. There’s an error in the console which seems to be closely related to the policy changes implemented by google starting on April 2018.
mediaelement-and-player.min.js?ver=4.2.6-78496d1:12 Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: play() failed because the user didn't interact with the document first. https://goo.gl/xX8pDD
// https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2017/09/autoplay-policy-changes#best-practices
The development team is currently working on a solution. For now, please replace the sliders with images and link them to the videos.
Best regards,
IsmaelMay 21, 2018 at 7:25 am #959585Hey Ismael
Thanks for getting back to me on the avia fullwidth slider issue re. video.
Please note that the errorr not only occurs in Chrome but also, as mentioned, in Firefox…
However: This morning the issue in Firefox took a new turn (without me making any changes at all). The video player window is “shrinking” from slide to slide. Or to put it in other words: The player window gets smaller as the slider moves through the 4 video based slides… The very last slide does not contain video and that one gets back to normal size. What do you make of that?
Really looking forward to a solution :-)
Very best regards
- This reply was modified 6 years, 7 months ago by nonne. Reason: Hi again Ismael - for your info I now am using Vimeo in the avia slider instead of selfhosted. Does not make Chrome autoplay but it is a better solution for now - fx removes the "shrinking" issue mentioned above
May 23, 2018 at 3:57 pm #960886Hi,
Thank you for the info. A new version of the theme is available but it doesn’t contain a fix for this particular issue, unfortunately. The development team is quite busy in making the theme GDPR compliant so they haven’t really gotten into fixing this bug. If you haven’t done so, please upgrade to version 4.4 and read this article.
// https://kriesi.at/archives/enfold-4-4-and-the-gdpr-general-data-protection-regulation
Please use images instead of videos in the slider temporarily. You can then link those images to the actual videos.

IsmaelMay 23, 2018 at 4:13 pm #960906Thanks for info Ismael
In the meantime I replaced videos in avia fullwidth slider with videos hosted by Vimeo.
They do not autoplay in Chrome, but “shrinking” problem disappeared – so a better solution for now.Waiting for a more permanent solution for videoplay in fullwidth easy slider.
Best regards :-)
May 23, 2018 at 4:42 pm #960942Hey!
Thanks for the update. Where can we see the thread with the user’s workaround? Did he add the “muted” attribute to the video tag?
Best regards,
IsmaelMay 23, 2018 at 4:48 pm #960950Hi Ismael
Thanks for following up on this :-)
According to the other user this code made autoplay work (not in the avia/easy fullwidth slider though…)
<video autoplay muted><source src=”movie.mp4″></video>Best regards
May 25, 2018 at 5:29 pm #962280Hi,
Thanks for the info. The “muted” attribute is going to be included in the latest version but it will only be applied to self hosted or local videos. For the full width easy slider, you may need to enable the “Mute Video Player” option manually.
Best regards,
IsmaelMay 25, 2018 at 9:15 pm #962395Hi again Ismael
I normally used self hosted videos in the fullwidth easy slider – only switched to Vimeo due to the malfunction.
Looking forward to next update and hope for full autoplay functionality.
Thanks again for your commitment to helping
Best regards
CarstenMay 26, 2018 at 8:17 pm #962586Hi Ismael
Self hosted videos in my clients avia fullwidth slider works again with video player muted :-)
One issue though:
At the end of each video the video sort of rewinds and shows the first frame before slider moves to next slide. It is not supposed to do that – it is a bit confusing ;-)How do I stop the videos from rewinding and showing first frame?. (URL and login data still in private content)
Best regards
CarstenMay 26, 2018 at 8:39 pm #962588As workaround, you can download Smart Slider…. free version works great for videos. I’m using Pro now but was very happy with the free, and it works great with Enfold.
(I have no connection with Smart Slider besides being a user)
May 26, 2018 at 9:01 pm #962594Hi goldengate415
Thanks for your suggestion – nice with a supportive “community” :-)
However I previously just made a couple of changes to js-files – but the code I am searching for is not there anymore – must have been altered or moved in one of the latest versions, but I am sure someone in support will be able to help.
Best regards
May 29, 2018 at 11:04 am #963571Hi,
The slideshow.js script is now located in the config-templatebuilder > slideshow folder. Did you modify this block of code?
//if the video is not looped resume the slideshow if(!event.data.slide.is('.av-single-slide') && !event.data.slide.is('.av-loop-video')) { event.data.slide.trigger('reset'); self._navigate( 'next' ); self.resume(); }
Best regards,
IsmaelMay 29, 2018 at 11:53 am #963607Hi Ismael
Thanks for pointing out which file to adress. And no, I did not modify this code.
How should I modify it ? :-)
Best regards
May 31, 2018 at 5:53 pm #964867Hi,
Where can we find the previous thread? Try to comment out this line to prevent the slides from restarting.
event.data.slide.trigger('reset');
Best regards,
IsmaelMay 31, 2018 at 6:27 pm #964890Thanks Ismael
Succes :-)
However: From an earlier solution you also gave me this code to alter – and both alterations still seems needed for the solution to work:
In js/avia.js change: loop: false,
To: loop: false, autoRewind: false,Very best regards
