Hi there,
Ismael asked me to open a new thread to continue working on this video issue, as the last one was getting quite long. You can see that we’ve been through quite a lot, and finally the video plays on my homepage on my desktop. Unfortunately, the play button does not work on my mobile device (It looks as though the last code fix didn’t apply to the mobile version of this page). It was previously suggested that I place an image and have it link to Vimeo but I want it to play on the website – it makes no sense to send potential customers away from my website from the top of my homepage. This issue has been active for over two months now, so I would very much appreciate a speedy fix! Thanks in advance

Thank you for opening a new thread.

The users will not have to go away from the site because the video will open inside a lightbox. Have you tried doing that? Just insert an image element and use the vimeo link as url. Unfortunately, adding these customizations take time and are usually beyond the scope of support. I’ve taken the time to create a custom script to make your requests work on desktop view but it will take more to make that same script work on mobile devices. You may need to hire a freelance developer or contact our partner, Codeable.

Thanks for your timely response. After my last post I did put the fix that you suggested in place, and the video opens as a pop-up. It works for now, but it’s not ideal. I do understand that customizations of the theme are not supported by Kriesi, which is completely reasonable. In this case, I am simply trying to use one of the functions that exists in the theme but does not work as advertised. I’m not asking for custom work, I’m just asking that the video block be made to work as it should. I hope that future updates of the theme include the work you are currently doing so that other users may use the video blocks as well. The fix that you gave me on the last thread only works for large screens, but is not responsive and thus looks bad on tablets and mobile devices. I would so appreciate you giving me a fix for the video block that will work across all screens, just as the theme does. Thanks in advance.

There’s actually nothing wrong with the script or the theme. Unfortunately, media autoplay is controlled by the browser and we can’t work around that policy. Video autoplay will still work for users who passed the Media Engagement Index (MEI).

I’ve already mentioned this on the previous thread:
Best regards,
