HI
I am trying to have a fullscreen slideshow with a mix of still images and videos all the same aspect ratio.
see this page:
http://www.copenhagenfilmcompany.dk/2014/landing-enx/the second and third images are videos, one (self hosted) doesn’t play, the other is from vimeo but shows the play/pause button.
I don’t understand how to set the right size for the video – it is cropped to a wide format, but if I set the slideshow to be “no scaling – use original” then the video is not the right size – either too tall with black borders, or with a black border at the bottom, depending on the settings on the image itself. Can you help me with this?
I wanted them to be the same height as the other images (they are 1060×400). It almost works when I select the “slideshow with sidebar” setting, although the video is a bit shorter than the images
I also need to get rid of the play/pause button – is this possible from Vimeo? I don’t understand how to do a self-hosted video – I uploaded one to my media library but it doesn’t play when I add it to the slideshow. What am I doing wrong? Would that give me more control over the size, hiding play buttons, etc?
thanks

February 25, 2014 at 5:40 pm #229093Hi Munford!
Make sure the vimeo video settings on vimeo are also set to not display controls/information. It shouldn’t be showing any controls but just as an extra precaution try that.
Video scaling/exact fit is a bit more difficult. By the nature of being responsive there must be some cropping at different browser widths. There is just no way to keep content scaled to fit the browser and always fill up a space at whatever size the viewers screen without cropping or hiding the edges.
For self hosted video you need to have multiple formats of the video in the same location and the same name. mp4, webM and Ogg are traditionally the 3 main ones you should have. You only add in one of them to the field in the ALB Slideshow element and the theme will automatically register the others as long as they are in the same folder with the same name (different extensions).
Cheers!
DevinFebruary 26, 2014 at 10:34 am #229499OK I got it working with a you tube video, but it doesn’t play on the mobile – is it an issue with the new short url .be (as I read somewhere here) or do I have to have an image slideshow to replace the videos somehow? Can you help with this? thanks!
March 8, 2014 at 11:45 am #234142Hi!
Please try to replace the .be short url with a standard youtube.com url and check if it fixes the issue. We’ll release a new update (Enfold 2.6) next week which should fix some video related issues. It will also introduce a “fallback image” feature for devices which can’t play the video(s). These devices will then show an image instead of a video and imo this is a graceful fallback.
Best regards,
