Hi there,
I’ve written a blog post to which I have tried added a 53 second film in a Media Element. The film is saved into Media.
When I view the post, the film opens in a new window, darkening the page behind. Is this possible to open in the original place without the darkening effect?
Is it also possible to hide the web address for the top of the media clip?
Many thanks
Hey hbourdillon,
The video doesn’t seem to work properly thus it shows the link and when clicked, it just starts the downloading of the video.
Try using the Video element under Media Elements, that should work better than using a shortcode.
Best regards,
Nikko
Hi Nikko,
Sorry I’m a bit confused by what you say as I have used a video element from the Media Elements and then inserted the .mov which is saved in the media file. I haven’t used any shortcode….
I also added a preview/fallback image which is why you can see a photo. Without the fallback it is a black square with the link showing at the top.
Best wishes
H
Hi H,
I apologize for that, I’m not sure how I missed that.
Also at the bottom of Choose Video label you should see:
Attention when using self hosted HTML 5 Videos:
Different Browsers support different file types (mp4, ogv, webm).
.mov isn’t supported video type on browsers, please try to convert it to one of the supported formats or you can upload it to youtube since it’s a supported format there: https://support.google.com/youtube/troubleshooter/2888402?hl=en and you can use that youtube link to display your video.
Best regards,
Nikko
Hi Nikko,
Thank you for the info. I’ve changed it to Mp4 and it is now working as I wanted.
Best wishes
