Hi again
I am still having problems with my video background in the color section on this page:
– fine in chrome and now in firefox but I checked it in safari on another
machine and the video seems to load (I get a still image) but doesn’t play. The flash plugin was up-to-date
(this was the problem on my machine). any ideas what the issue is here? I am running enfold 2.7
thanks

May 23, 2014 at 11:01 pm #269309Hi Nancy!
It worked fine for me on Safari 7.
Best regards,
JosueMay 27, 2014 at 11:11 am #270441My client is complaining now that he and many others cannot see the front page video on this page:
in Safari (and earlier today also Firefox & chrome but now it’s fine on those browsers), where it either doesn’t load or comes up with a black screen and play button instead of autoplaying when the page loads. Is Enfold only compatible with the latest version of browsers and plugins? Is it possible to have a code that checks for the browser compatibility and plays the video or alternative slideshow (like I have set to run on ipads/mobile) accordingly? The client really doesn’t want to hear that everyone needs a particular browser version (!). Any suggestions??
thanks

May 28, 2014 at 3:03 am #270959Hey!
Only self hosted videos will run into issues but those with youtube/vimeo should have no cross browser issues and so far we’ve not had any reports of them not working.
One thing I am seeing is a single instance of a video returning a 404 error though with the video playing I can’t see why that would or should be happening. What url are you using in the section background right now?
Best regards,
DevinMay 28, 2014 at 9:24 am #271023Hi Devin
thanks for taking a look at this. I also don’t understand what’s going on, but my client claimed he and other colleagues could not get the video to load – so it’s on more than one machine. I think perhaps it has to do with safari 6.3.1, as I am running 5.1.1 and it works fine and you tested it on Safari 7, although I was also seeing it not loading apperently due to a flash update issue. I reinstalled safari and it worked fine. The url is: http://youtu.be/i_H4qNNHZgs. I customized the embed settings a bit – actually now I am unable to change the embed settings for some reason – I can’t edit the text in the box here: http://imgur.com/17mtxrV
do you have any idea if there is some setting that got changed? I have looked on forums and can’t find anything about this.
best

May 28, 2014 at 7:11 pm #271364Try using the regular youtube url and not the youtu.be url. Eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_H4qNNHZgs in the field for the video background.
Also one thing to note is old versions of Safari are typically universally not supported unlike IE versions like IE8 or IE9. Safari on windows is also completely unsupported now since Apple dropped development on it long ago.
June 10, 2014 at 11:29 am #276925hi Devin
I updated the you tube link but am still seeing a still image instead of video on safari 6.3.
It’s not really such an “old”version, and it works in safari 5.1 fine. Cleared the cache, no change.
any suggestions welcome.
thanks
nJune 10, 2014 at 6:51 pm #277085I’ll ask the support crew if anyone has an old version of Safari to test in. If it was me, I wouldn’t even bother since usage stats for Safari are so low and then for old S6 its under 1% of users as of May 2014.
June 10, 2014 at 7:33 pm #277108I know – thanks –
unfortunately more than one of my clients colleagues seem to be using it.
thanks
