Good day!
As I understood it, video backgrounds are supposed to fallback to images on mobile devices. Is this correct?
We’re in the process of developing a site with a video background, but on mobile devices the fallback images are not showing up and the video background is just the loading animation.
Any help and clarification on this would be appreciated.
Hey leadmagz!
Thank you for using Enfold.
The fix will be included on the next update. Please wait for it on themeforest, it should be available by tomorrow.
Best regards,
Ismael
Good day!
The update did not fix the fallback image issue. Right now on ipad and smaller devices, the theme is still trying to load the video. As far as we can tell, the image is in the background since we see a sliver of it when scrolling on mobile devices.
Hey!
I checked your site but it appears to be working fine. I see a video on desktop but on mobile I see an image of a computer screen with a bunch of code on it.
Try clearing your browser cache and make sure your using the official Chrome browser if your on Android.
Cheers!
Elliott
Hi Elliot,
We set the video background section to “position: fixed” with a z-index of -1 for smaller screens and set it back to z-index 1 for screen sizes above 1024. Not a very good fix because I feel this just hides the problem not really stop the video from loading in the background which is a bit much to ask visitors on a mobile data plan.
Hey!
The video is ITG-Video-background.mp4 correct? It’s not going to load on mobiles. You can view your site in Firebug and see that it gets aborted on small screens but when you view on a large screen it will continue to load.
Cheers!
Elliott
