I can confirm that the above code does get the self-hosted videos working, but controls are disabled so it’s impossible to pause them? Did I do something wrong?

RobWith further testing, I can also confirm that while this fixes the self-hosted videos (except disables controls so users can’t pause), it breaks the auto-play for Youtube hosted videos…..

My problem is the self-hosted video do not auto-play. But if you press “play” it works fine.
But wanted that it was auto-play. with the new update 4.3.1 it still doesn’t autoplay. or does it for you guys?Some notes about using videos on websites:
I can understand that you do not want to upload any video that you run as a background in a loop to foreign hoster, but company profile movies or longer movies have nothing to do as self-hosted videos. It is not good for the performance if longer movies are hosted by your own server. There are a number of settings to supress advertisements and cookies from eg Youtube. i do create a shortcode for youtube videos that implemented all settings to avoid loading relatives etc. pp.

I’m of the opinion that it should work, of course – for small blurry films of a meeting as background for the content (some kb big) – yes.Upgraded Theme to 4.3.1
Done the edits as metioned above in the 2 files.Result: Video now auto playing, however on iOS mobile device the video is also shown whereas previously only the image was shown.
Can this also be corrected please?Till there is a fix: How to get back to 4.2.x without rollback function:
– just copying over enfold folder via ftp?

I have a similar issue.
Colour Section background self-hosted video is not playing since upgrade to 4.3 and 4.3.1. It shows only a dark grey background, even the replacement image is not showing.Thanks.

I followed your instructions below and edited the file:
Please modify the framework > php > function-set-avia-frontend.php file, look for the “avia_html5_video_embed” function. Replace everything with this code.

@studiotui2018: The issue occurs when using self hosted videos only so you can use third party video hosts like youtube or vimeo momentarily. You’re also trying to implement the old version of the modification. Please try this one.

IsmaelGuys… when is 4.3.2 coming out? I don’t mind a css patch or two to hold us over but when we start dropping huge chunks of code into the theme, it’s time for an update…. :)

I have installed 4.3.2 in hopes this video issue would be resolved. It works now in safari and firefox but not chrome (which is the browser that my client uses of course) Can you help?
My sites that have this issue are in the private content below. Both are still under active support.
Just checking: Do I need to start a new topic to get support on this issue? Chrome does not autoplay self-hosted videos in the newest version of Enfold (4.3.2)

We would like to apologize for the issue. The latest patch contains the fix but it doesn’t cover all the changes presented by google regarding media autoplay.
