Variation images not working after update.

I have an issue with product variations images not being shown post updates.

I have created a staging platform of our live site, run loads of updates, but now the variation images don’t work across the staging platform, it works fine on the original site.

So far I have:
• Deactivated all plugins, apart from woo, but the issue remained.
• Removed the parent product image, then the variations worked perfectly, but obviously it no longer had an image when viewing in category view.
• Switched theme to Twenty Fifteen, the variations worked.

I’m using the latest Enfold, wordpress and woocommerce for images.
