    Hi,
    I would like to be able to create a selection of, say, 8 footer widgets and be able to select which ones go on a particular page or post. At present it looks like I can only choose ‘yes or no’ to widgets and have no ability to choose which are used, or to have, for example, the option to choose column widths (so on one section have pages with 4 columns and in another section 3 columns, on half-width and two quarter-width) the same as would be done on html pages.

    I’m assuming someone will tell me the latter is too difficult with wordpress, so I’d settle for being able to choose which of a selection of footer widgets can be added to a page. Can you tell me how it’s done? If I need to add code somewhere, can you say where, as I’m not so up on wordpress. Thanks.

    Hi brian7454!

    It’s going to take a lot of time and code to implement something like that in the theme so it would have to be considered custom work. It would be best to hire a freelancer to help you out with this customization.

    If you want to try and code something like this in yourself then the area you’d be interested in is around line 50 in the footer.php file but it’s probably going to take quite a bit of work.
