I’m hosting at WordPress.com and would like to add some custom page templates to my Enfold theme.
Wordpress states: Users cannot modify the templates or add their own. You can only select from the list, which depends on the theme you have activated.
Since I’m hosting at wordpress.com I don’t have ftp access to simply change files up there. It occurs to me that I could take the Enfold zip file that I uploaded to wordpress.com, open it up, add a file with an additional template, zip it up again and upload it again.
My questions:
1) Is that a reasonable way to try and add custom page templates when hosting on a site that provides no ability to add a file remotely?
2) Will doing this break or damage any of the content I’ve created?
3) Would this be an update to the existing enfold template, or would it become a separate enfold_alexchanges template? Do I have any control over this?
Thank you very much.
Hey kvanderd,
You can add the child theme and try creating the files and the folders with your custom templates there.

Well, this can make things more difficult.
It will not break any content that you already have.
