Hi, we have wordpress installed in a subdirectory (like http://www.wordpess.de/unterverzeichnis). Now we want to display the url as the domain (ie like http://www.wordpress.de). Instructions are available enough at google (for example,http://faq.wpde.org/wordpress-trotz-installation-in-unterverzeichnis-ueber-hauptverzeichnis-aufrufen/): we have COPY the index and the .htaccess file from the subdirectory and inserted in the root directory . The undersides url works, only the home page is not found anymore. Is this possibly a Enfold Theme problem?
thanks in advance
November 24, 2014 at 9:16 pm #357113Hi mczappa!
It’s not a theme issue. In Dashboard > Settings > General the WordPress URL should be your domain name and the Site URL should be the sub domain. When you save WordPress should write to the .htaccess file automatically. Pay special attention to any messages it gives you such as the .htaccess file not being writable, etc etc.
I would create a backup first before editing those fields though. See here for more info, http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL.

November 25, 2014 at 1:12 pm #357492Hi Elliott,
thanks for the fast reply. I had already checked on this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL and I did everything exactly as directed.I think my problem is the .htaccess file. There is no messages after save WordPress, and/but the .htaccess in the subdirectory countains the same content as before. Should I maybe delete the .htaccess file in the sub directory and see if WordPress created there a new one?
And: we don`t use a subdomain, only a subdirectory.
best regards Anita

Does the issue persists with the default WordPress theme activated?
Cheers!
