@goldengate415, thanks for the advice. I tried and the Enfold file package has been uploaded. However, it’s still not working (I uploaded the zip file of the theme: themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme), maybe I uploaded the wrong file? Which format file should I upload to the FTP?
Thanks!June 6, 2016 at 10:51 pm #643694Unzip it to your desktop and then copy the folder over to your subdirectory… if you upload a zipped theme it will not work.

June 6, 2016 at 11:55 pm #643708Spent my whole day for this new version update, uploaded via FTP, lost all of my setting. Site finally came back – but a big messy! VERY VERY unhappy!
June 7, 2016 at 12:14 am #643714@Linortek I had the same thing happen, so I ftp uploaded the old version of Enfold – Version 3.5.4. and my site came back to the way it was.
June 7, 2016 at 12:32 am #643716Hey @tahern, Thanks for the info, but where can I get an old version? I usually update the theme through WordPress dashboard and did not save any copy.
June 7, 2016 at 12:55 am #643718Also possible you lost any custom css if you’re not using a child theme…
June 7, 2016 at 12:56 am #643719Deleting Enfold folder in FTP then dropping the new version in worked great, thanks!
June 7, 2016 at 1:08 am #643720@goldengate415, I don’t use any custom css, so child them is not a problem for me. Actually I am quite happy with Enfold theme, many of my friends and customers told me that our website looks very good and I have recommended Enfold to them already. This update really cause me headache. @w3newbie, I am a newbie in FTP, I have spent a whole afternoon to figure out how to FTP file. Since my site is back now, I don’t want to redo all the process to upload new file, I am afraid I would make mistake and cause the site down again. I prefer to going through all the setting again to keep site up.
June 7, 2016 at 1:24 am #643730Your site does look great! Congratulations on getting it back up!
(by the way, if you want to get rid of the “theme by Kriesi” message in the footer, go to Enfold settings, then footer, then put [nolink] after the end of the copyright in the copyright box)
June 7, 2016 at 2:14 am #643742I am having this same problem, the site is broken and I can’t update to the newest version of the theme. Right now the site is defaulting to a generic WordPress theme. When I try to update the enfold.zip for the theme, I get the message it failed. It says the folder (enfold) already exists. I need help on what to do, site is down!
June 7, 2016 at 2:26 am #643743@johnS59, I know how painful it’s. Here is what I did today to get the site back. First, I login to my hosting account (we hosting on Godaddy), go to File Manager, delete the entire Enfold theme. Then search “how to upload files via FTP” on my hosting website, follow the instruction to upload the new theme from there. Please remember, you have to unzip the theme file to use FTP then you site should work.
It’s a hard work for me since I don’t have any experience on FTP. Also I would suggest you to open a new post for your issue so that more people can see your question. People here are very nice and you will get a lot of good advice.June 7, 2016 at 3:15 am #643747Thank you! I wiped off the enfold folder and reinstalled the updated enfold via FTP and it works! Please make sure to make it easier next update, I nearly had a heart attack! :-D
June 7, 2016 at 6:28 pm #644264For everyone who had/have issues updating to the new 3.6 (like i did), the issue is that the new update uses different file naming convention for the following (found in “/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes”):
1. helper-mailchimp.php changed to > av-helper-mailchimp.php
2. helper-masonry.php changed to > av-helper-masonry.php
3. helper-slideshow.php changed to > av-helper-slideshow.phpIn order for me to update successfully, i have to delete the old files “helper-mailchimp.php, helper-masonry.php & helper-slideshow.php” right after uploading the updated enfold file via ftp. Apparently when you do an overwrite of the folder “enfold” via ftp, those three files don’t get deleted as there’s nothing to overwrite them with the new update. Hope that helps.
