Hey,
So I was having issues with my child theme’s style.css not being applied (ongoing thread).
I updated to version 2.6.1 and everything got much worse. Nothing from my Child theme is being applied, the backend of WordPress no longer works (/wp-admin/) and can’t access anything (getting a white screen, 500 internal server error).
Really need some technical help. I do have backups of my most recent previous version (2.4.5) but would like to move on with this version and its offerings.
Also, I can provide access to WordPress.
Thanks

March 12, 2014 at 5:56 pm #236425I had the same problem with 2.6 and 2.6.1.
Reuploading a previous version (2.4.5) and renaming it as the broken theme allowed me to revert to 2.4.5 and re-install 2.6 which eventually worked.March 12, 2014 at 5:59 pm #236428So you have enfoldbroken (2.4.5), enfold (2.6.1) and enfoldchild in your themes folder?
Sorry, I’m trying to grasp this concept before I dive in and try it (although at this point, anything would be better).
March 12, 2014 at 6:07 pm #236435Hi!
Can you provide a link to your site with the child theme running and 2.6.1? I checked the fix before it was applied and all it does is change when the style.css gets included. So it shouldn’t cause any error with its output.
Cheers!

The activated is the version 2.6.1
It doesnt workSo I go back to the fallback (version 2.6) which activates and provides me a working website.
Then I unzip the them file downloaded from themeforest again and reupload it (the enfold-new).
Then rename the activated and broken to “notworking” or whatever, and rename enfold-new to enfold.
Reload appearance page and click on the “theme details” button to find version 2.6.1.Activate it.
Pray/Pee
Come back and hopefully have a functional and updated enfold 2.6.1
March 12, 2014 at 7:13 pm #236479@murphy88 – What isn’t working exactly on the site linked? The child style.css is loading in without issue and in the correct order.
@Ipongo – You can’t have multiple themes named enfold anything in your themes folder and have a correctly working child theme. The child theme finds the parent based on its name. The correct folder structure should be:
enfold – the newest version with no difference in the folder name
enfoldchild or whatever name your child theme folder is called.Regards,
Devin

So style.css is loading but the contents isn’t being rendered. Add in the closing bracket and it will work.

Wow, hate when that happens. My coding client almost always picks that up, but didn’t for some reason this time. Thanks so much.
However, this does not explain why I am not able to access the backend still (…/wp-admin/) and change theme settings (header is still not working 100%.
Any thoughts?
Thanks again Devin!

It sounds like there is something else causing a conflict as a normal theme update shouldn’t cause that kind of issue.
So far this is the only case of that happening that I know of.
March 13, 2014 at 4:11 pm #237001Devin,
Thank you for your continued assistance!
I renamed the plugins folder on the server and still the white screen. I removed my child themes files one at a time (header.php, footer.php, functions.php) still with no luck.
This leads me to believe it is a theme conflict with WordPress (version 3.8.1). When I revert back to the last version of Enfold I was using, 2.4.5, everything works fine.
I’ve run out of ideas and feel like my only option now is to revert back to 2.4.5. The site will be pushed live in a week, and would much rather deal with this issue before launch.
If you or your team could provide any other thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it. I am still researching for another solutions.
Thanks!
