    Hi

I am desperately trying to upgrade Enfold as I have problems with the advanced AVIA editor.

I started by installing the Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades. It does make or seem to make a backup of the active Enfold theme that is stored in the Media library as described in the presentation of the plugin. But then it says it cant go on with the installation as the enfold file already exist – the wp/wp -something. I have no clue what this means! Thanks to WordPress and your wonderful theme I have made my site all by myself without knowing any code or anything – but at times things that might seem simple to many, are just totally impossible to me.

I have watched the video Yigit recommended me to do, about upgrading in the best way – but I get lost as the person says “and I am already logged on my server” or something like that.

I have downloaded the new theme on my laptop. That went fine.

If you have any upgrading-for-dummies tips, it would be greatly appreciated

    Hi MarieAn!

    See: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

If you aren’t on a most recent enough version that you can update from within WordPress you can update over FTP or from the WordPress admin just like when you first installed.

If the error you get is that you can’t write over the already created folder then you would need to either delete the theme to do a “fresh” install or ask your hosting provider to asssist with changing the write permissions on the wp-content>themes folder.

In the video I’m already logged in over FTP which is how you typically connect to your server to modify the files on it. Its the same as viewing files on your computer but a longer distance.

    Cheers!
    Devin

    Thank you Devin.

I got IRL help to do the upgrade, so I have the latest Enfold now.
