Just quick question is it safe to upgrade 4.9 to 5.3? Doesn’t appear to want to do it automatically via wordpress / enfold / theme options.

It should be safe to update to that version, but please make sure to backup your site prior to updating.
If you haven’t registered your theme license, then please refer to this: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/. If the update should still not come through after that, then please try using this plugin: https://envato.com/market-plugin/
