I am taking over from another agency and see my client has Enfold theme 2.8 which gives loads of difficulties. I would like to upgrade, but not lose all information on the site. Please let me know what to do or to buy on Envato?
Hey Hein Vredenberg,
Thanks for reaching out. I don’t think you should have to buy a new license if you still have access to the Themeforest account where it was bought?
Since the current version is so old, I would recommend that you clone the site to a local or staging site and perform the update there first, so you don’t have to worry about things going wrong on the live site.
Best regards,
Rikard
No I don’t have the license. The theme was bought by another agency. Am I correct that I can download/backup the site locally and with MAMP try to update it and after that I can upload the new corrected and updated site?
I understand that I have to buy the Enfold theme
With regards,
Hein
Hi Hein,
Ok, thanks for the information. In that case it might be better to buy your own license, unless you can get the details the other agency used to login into Themeforest.
Yes you can transfer your site to a local install, but it might be better to copy it to a staging site on the same server where the production site lives. That way you will know that there won’t be any problems with server configurations.
Best regards,
Rikard
