    Hello—

    I am currently running Enfold Child Version: 1.0 / EnfoldVersion: 3.8.5.

    Can I update my WordPress to 5.2.1? I am currently using WordPress 4.9.10.

    What is the latest php version I can use?

    How do I update my theme?

    What is a step by step process to make the above updates in the best way?

    Hey lanikita,
    Thank you for the information on your setup, Please first ensure that you are using PHP version v5.6 as a minimum.
    Then download the theme from Theme Forest.
    Then open it and extract the “enfold.zip” file and then extract it to your desktop as /enfold/
    Then rename to /enfold-new/ and upload the folder to your /wp-content/themes/ folder via FTP or your file manager in your webhost cPanel
    Then via FTP or your cPanel file manager, at /wp-content/themes/ rename /enfold/ to /enfold-old/ and rename /enfold-new/ to /enfold/

    Now your new version is installed, please check your site. If all is well then “Good Job!” If not then reverse the last rename step above and your site will be restored.

    Then you should be able to update the WordPress core.

    Hi,

    We can’t guarantee that you won’t get problems if you try to update again, could you try to update on a staging version of the site first maybe? Also, which version of PHP are you running on the server?

    Hi,

    This php version is really low – might be an issue regarding of what is happening.
    How about update to php 7 so we can see how things going?

    Hi,
    I believe the reason your site was broken was because you overwrote the v3.8.5 theme files. Please try the steps above where the new files are in a new folder called “enfold-new”
    If you would like a hand with this Please include an admin login & FTP access in the Private Content area.
    Also upload your updated theme as a zip to your theme’s folder.
