Hi Team Enfold,
On two occasions recently, one in February and one today, when updating the main Woocommerce plugin it freezes during the update and site goes into a 500 error. The fix involves renaming the Enfold Theme folder (to get access to the admin again), then installing a different theme, then running the restore backup function, then removing the .maintenance file.(Just on that, I guess the extra Theme backup files created can be deleted, I have them stored in the an Themes_old folder.)
Is something you can assist with, or have you seen this behaviour before from others? On the last occasion, in February, I remember waiting some days (maybe a week) and eventually re-trying the Woocommerce update again and that time it worked.
As always, thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.

We haven’t had anyone else report this problem, so it’s likely something local to your site. Do you think the theme is causing the problem? If so then which leads you to that conclusion? Did you check the error logs of the server to see if that could give you any clues as to what is going wrong?

Thanks for the reply and confirmation that this is not a known issue.
I’m thinking it is a theme conflict because on both occasions when the Woocommerce install freezes causing the 500 error, disabling the Enfold theme returns access to the site and Admin, after which a different theme can be temporarily chosen. In that stage WordPress is stable, but if I reactivate the Enfold theme on the server, it instantly gives the 500 error.
I also noticed on the Woocommerce Plugin review section today that another user had the same issue. Where the bug exactly lies I’m not sure, but at least it can be repeated, which as you say can be investigated in the logs. The first time it occurred I did ask the Hosting company to review the logs but they didn’t find anything conclusive.
Bit of a mystery really!

May 15, 2020 at 7:36 am #1213150Hi,
Thank you for the update.
Can we have access to the most recent error log? Please post the WP and FTP details in the private field so that we can inspect the issue further. Did you set the installation to debug mode?
Best regards,

IsmaelMay 31, 2020 at 12:27 pm #1218168Hi Ismael
Quick update. Today I updated to the latest version of the Enfold theme, and all went well.
I then decided to manually install the new Woocommerce update keeping the previous version to roll back to if needed.
All plugins are active and there are no conflicts! Happy days. Thanks again for being available.
