    Hi guys
    I just got a job to help finish a website: http://www.cjff.dk which is using a different theme that does not use the advanced layout editor. I know it’s not your theme (it’s Elision from Qude Interactive – I have not used it before) and really don’t want to work with this kind of editor using clunky shortcodes! I am just too used to working with Enfold.

    My question is: can I change the theme to enfold without losing the portfolio entries? I exported the site to test it in enfold on another server, but the portfolio items did not import correctly – ‘ Invalid post type portfolio_page”. The bulk of the work on the site is in portfolio items, so I need to know they will update in the new theme.
    Can you help me figure out the best way to do this?

    Hey Munford!

    I don’t think it’s possible and you would need to rebuild everything with Enfold. Two different themes from two different authors are just not compatible with each other.

    Hi Munford!

    You’d need to migrate the portfolio_page (Elision) post types to portfolio (Enfold), try using this plugin:

    Or:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/convert-post-types/

    I’m not sure if this is going to work but try to convert the other theme’s portfolio entries using this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/convert-post-types/

    wow guys thanks for all the tips! I hate this theme and I really want to switch to enfold, but there are 22 different portfolio items that I don’t’ want to have to redo. I will try it all.

    Yeah, i’d also suggest making a backup of the install in case something goes wrong.

    OK I have finally cloned my site and have the convert post types plugin installed, but there is no option to switch to portfolio. Do I need to make that custom post name first somewhere?

    first switch the portfolio entries from old theme to posts.
    Then i would try to switch to enfold and after that to convert the posts (former portfolios) to Enfold Portfolios.

    but please use it only in a test environment

    Thanks everyone. I am working on a test clone site – I made a custom post for portfolio and then converted – seemed to work pretty well!
