GuestDear developers,
In 2016, a client of mine bought and installed your theme Enfold regarding his website. Now, 3 years later, I’d like to update the theme because I found out that the WordPress Page editor does not work properly anymore. Maybe updating the theme will help and will resolve this issue.
Back in 2016 another developer was hired to develop his website, so I don’t have the login information regarding Theme Forest. And unfortunately, we can not get seem te get a hold of the previous developer.
Long story short: what’s the best way to update the website again regarding the newest version? Is it possible to renew a support subscription? Or is the best way to purchase the whole new theme and install it again?
Thanks in advance,
Geoffrey de Jong

You would login on ThemeForest using the account you used to purchase Enfold and find your purchase code to register to our forum. API key and username is needed to receive auto updates – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/. So in your case not having that information available it sounds better to just purchase a new theme.

GuestHi Jordan,
Thanks for your quick reply. :)
Yeah, I also thought so. I’ll buy the theme and install it again then.It will automatically overwrite the current Enfold theme? Or do I get two themes and I have to delete the current one and keep of course the new one? Sorry, I sound so complicated! LOL

You can back up the current older theme, remove it, then install the new one in it place. Then import the data you backed up.

GuestWell, I see my client has a Enfold Child Theme installed. So, does this help with the current settings?

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking?

GuestWell, having a Child theme has nothing to do with keeping your current setting while installing the same theme again, only with a different version?
So, does it help, having a Child Theme installed at all when you want to install a new version of the same theme? :)July 22, 2019 at 4:54 pm #1120942Hi,
Oh i see now. No, you should install the child theme that comes packaged with the updated version.
