Hello! I am reaching out this way because I cannot register for the forum. A website that I manage (tourdescottsdale.net) was designed in 2013 by an outside designer. He purchased the Enfold theme. Unfortunately, the site was never updated (both WordPress and the theme). So now 5 years later, I updated WordPress and have found that many features of the theme (including the Avia Layout Builder) are broken. The support forums reference updating the theme. I don’t have access to the original theme purchase. So my question is, what would the implications be if I purchased the latest version of the Enfold theme and uploaded it to the website? Do you think it would go smoothly? Would it over write the customization? Would it recognize that it was replacing a current theme instead of creating a new theme? I love the Enfold theme and it still works really well for our site, so I don’t want to go through all of the hassle and time of choosing a new theme and designing the site again from scratch. Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for contacting us!
Since you are using a very old version of the theme, you may need to re-configure some options/elements such as header, widgets etc.
You can create a testing environment and update the theme there firstly to be on the safe side.
I noticed you have custom CSS code at the bottom of Style.css file. They will be overwritten when you update the theme so please have a copy of your custom CSS code. Did you make any other changes on theme files? If you have, they will be overwritten as well but your content is saved on your database.
Yes, it will recognize the update.
I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions :)
Cheers!
