Hi, I’ve tried the update to 4.4.1 from 4.2.6 a number of times and the result is the same: I have to restore my server image to undo this theme update as WordPress is completely unusable from front or back end.
I’ve tried:- Updating from WP Update screen
- updating from Enfold theme controls
The update occurs quickly and without error and I am returned to the WP post-update-theme screen where I can then click on the link to go to the Enfold theme controls. That link errors out – 500. All links to the site, all visitors, etc. get error 500 and each visitor eats up a lot of memory that isn’t released and then the server pretty much is useless. I can reboot but the site never works.
I have tried updating it while using my Enfold child theme and the main Enfold theme, and get the same result. No errors during update, but the site won’t work for any user or admin.
Sample output:
Downloading update from https://marketplace-downloads.customer.envatousercontent.com/files/248131396/enfold.zip?response-content-disposition=attachment%3B+filename%3Dthemeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme.zip&Expires=1528326348&Signature=lk17xBbx1j4JEBR-RVdaiZ2zm-tL3Uiw-DIWRE28F0l16Oye254stQnpOn-AjNTRvku1DiJdLBJvaixZGKNmZbsVejb58CEzJw5AbL2B-q8vnueQ7Xlz8HSRj7xxyI7c3cl6UDd43nTjV2CFvcihSMCShss2AgSyAIMacUPBfDL2dlE08Y33QHkxtVb2P1AN8bVvnhyD73RicvBeDFKcujCIra5ufhrkXCfwTDWPbFfWAZXu4XrSHzD1Ro~kEdGQu8T74eZuRsq2AlcZgUFDAdyIWAfkI4vb5f6V2n54uaUYWA7b6gJdWAg0JU6r2H1iyyHIjvRoX6M1fPkf0EW2Ih86TNZVWy3wQi3ZeopqISvKYTD1czcFvnRoW0mLTajKY0T6ZToAtlluUmBKEJdx0VXbZ8npLs8~EdMdv6aqrdcAGakDnY2G4uPcypHPH1JjbJ~EasTs0o11Eo0X-8xRUvA~vTR1rOpvZM4KuXveC-gd8PJo9FkNNzgi5ICvpfj4aspSMksvIMI-9jUFGL0d3LIfvah6ZKBIPnS-gFcwDePgE4-pN~enzJYRBOZNtkW6cYm7XB3LT~FA2pUFUG3FerwKY3Favmj9e9UFpcYG3Fmo9Todh0IsPaLwu2vHFLjBj18NRw2c64kIdTNkvouH8~n8~mSLQSNE73jQvHxhvmg_&Key-Pair-Id=APKAJRP2AVKNFZOM4BLQ…
Unpacking the update…
Installing the latest version…
Removing the old version of the theme…
Theme updated successfully.
Disabling Maintenance mode…All updates have been completed.
This is the error message I get trying to access any page, back- or front-end:

June 9, 2018 at 4:47 am #970253To update from 4.2.x to 4.3 or 4.4 requires update via FTP, unfortunately, or site will indeed crash as you have experienced. Be sure you delete the old Enfold folder before updating the new theme.
June 9, 2018 at 10:35 am #970364Hi getmechamot,
Sorry for the problems. Like @goldengate415, you will need to delete the old theme folder and then upload the new version. The reason is that a few files have moved between those versions.
Best regards,
RikardJune 14, 2018 at 7:54 pm #972979HI, I have a similar situation. The site is now using Version 3.8. I tried to update it in WordPress but it broke the site.
I downloaded the file from ThemeForest and updated through FTP but it seems to be still using Version 3.8.Where do I download the latest version 4.4.1?
Thank you.
June 15, 2018 at 8:41 am #973153Hi wintner,
Sorry for the problems, the only place you can download the theme from is from your account on Themeforest. Maybe you could try to delete the theme under Apperance->Themes instead and then upload the new version there as well? Make sure to have proper backups of your site in case you should need to roll back.
Best regards,
RikardJune 30, 2018 at 2:55 pm #979589Hi, sorry it’s taken so long to try this. I deleted the old theme and put in the latest version….and the site locks up. I had to remove the new files and restore the old ones. I’ve now tried this twice. I unzip the enfold.zip file to /wp-content/themes/enfold (which is created by unzip) and the site doesn’t work. I’ve looked at the files and it looks like things should work – sub-directories, etc are there.
I’ve tried leaving Enfold as the active theme and doing this, or having WordPress 2015 theme active then making the new Enfold them active. Both times, the entire site doesn’t work (back-end or front-end) and I have to go back in SSH and remove the new files and restore the old ones.
July 1, 2018 at 10:17 am #979775Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I tried logging in to have a look again but the login details are not working, could you check please? Also please post FTP details in private in case we should need them.
Best regards,
RikardJuly 2, 2018 at 6:52 pm #980208Fixed the user login issue. I use SSH to download files and don’t have FTP installed or running. All plugins, WordPress, etc. update fine and the theme used to update!

I will do pass as working with SSH to fix / review a simple issue is 2 much.
Can you create us access into FTP so we can be able to review properly?Best regards,
BasilisJuly 9, 2018 at 3:53 pm #983170Thanks Basilis. The server doesn’t have FTP. This will take me a few days until I have the time to set it up. I will respond with login/password as soon as it’s working. Please do not close the ticket
