    Hello,

    I’ve created an extensive website with many adaptions to the Enfold theme because my client wanted this.
    When I update the theme the website is totally different, and I can’t restore this easily.
    Also, when I update WP to version 4.1 the page builder doesn’t work anymore.
    Altogether many problems, which I hope can be restored.

    Hey marceloerlemans!

    If you are customizing the theme files then it’s recommended to do those customizations in a child theme, http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/downloads/, so they are saved between updates.

    Hi Elliot,

    I have made ALL of the customizations in a child theme. However, I’ve built this website based on Enfold version 2.4.5 and in the changelog I’ve read that the update to version 3 has been major, so I guess it isn’t possible at all to upgrade to a 3+ version and keep the same layout..

    This also results in the fact that I can’t update WordPress itself because if I do the page builder will stop working.

    Is it maybe possible to update to WP 4.1 and update only the pagebuilder and not the rest of the theme? At least we can use the latest WP version then..

    Hey!

    You’ll need to update both WordPress and Enfold at the same time but be sure to create a backup first.

    Depending on the customizations you did you may need to redo a few of them after updating.
